According to statistics from the Khanh Hoa CDC, Tay Khanh Vinh commune currently has the highest number of malaria cases in the province. Specifically, from the beginning of the year to December 10th, Khanh Hoa province recorded a total of 92 malaria cases (90 domestic cases, 2 imported cases), with Tay Khanh Vinh commune alone accounting for 40 cases.
In response to the high number of malaria cases, the Khanh Hoa CDC provided the Khanh Vinh Regional Health Center with 1,500 tubes of mosquito repellent cream to distribute to people who frequently go into the forest or sleep in the fields, and instructed them to apply the cream to prevent the disease.
Simultaneously, the authorities organized the spraying of chemicals to kill malaria-carrying mosquitoes to protect people in high-risk areas and communes/wards where cases of the disease had been recorded. A large number of mosquito nets treated with chemicals to prevent malaria transmission were also distributed to people who frequently go into the forest or sleep in the fields, especially in the Tay Khanh Vinh area.
Despite having 40 cases of malaria, a positive sign in Tay Khanh Vinh commune is that while new cases were continuously recorded in June, July, and August, no new malaria cases were reported in the commune from the beginning of October until December 10th.

Chemical spraying to kill mosquitoes that transmit malaria in Tay Khanh Vinh.
On December 11th, Dr. Ton That Toan, Deputy Director of the Khanh Hoa CDC, stated that the malaria situation in Tay Khanh Vinh has been largely brought under control. Preventive health workers are continuously monitoring the area to educate residents on disease prevention measures and guide them on getting tested for malaria after returning from forests and fields.
"Many people in Tay Khanh Vinh have become aware of the importance of sleeping under mosquito nets and leaving the forest and fields before 5 PM, because after 5 PM, malaria-carrying mosquitoes become very active. At the same time, if they stay in the fields, they must go to the health station immediately upon returning home to have samples taken for testing. These are important measures to prevent malaria," said Dr. Ton That Toan.
Although there have been positive signs of improvement, according to Dr. Ton That Toan, during the end of the year or leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), people in Tay Khanh Vinh often go into the forest more often to collect mushrooms, honey, and agricultural products... Therefore, one should not be complacent or negligent in preventing malaria.

Malaria testing is being conducted for residents in the Khánh Vĩnh area.
"The People's Committees of the communes have recorded cases of malaria, especially in Tay Khanh Vinh commune, and must update the list of people going to the forest and fields weekly and send it to the Health Station for monitoring and sample testing. At the same time, they are communicating malaria prevention measures on the commune's radio system twice a day. Although no new cases have been recorded for several months, people in Tay Khanh Vinh must sleep in mosquito nets treated with chemicals when staying in the fields, forests, and at home," advised Dr. Ton That Toan.
According to Dr. Toan, malaria is caused by the Plasmodium parasite and transmitted by Anopheles mosquitoes. Common symptoms include fever, headache, and chills. The disease is curable if detected early, but if it progresses severely, it can cause dangerous complications. When experiencing suspicious symptoms, people should immediately go to the nearest medical facility for examination and testing.
