General developments
The entire live pig market today witnessed a widespread price increase across all three regions, with common increases ranging from 1,000 to 2,000 VND/kg, bringing the highest price nationwide to 62,000 VND/kg in many localities.
The recovery in live pig prices is occurring amidst increased demand for meat at the end of the year, while supply is being regulated appropriately, helping the market break out of the previous period of stability at 59,000 - 60,000 VND/kg.
According to livestock experts, fluctuations in pork prices in the last month of the year are heavily influenced by the progress of herd rebuilding, the disease situation, and consumer demand. The effective control of African swine fever in many localities in recent times has helped maintain a stable supply, limit panic selling, and create a foundation for price recovery in the North and Central regions.
In the near future, live pig prices are likely to fluctuate around 59,000 - 61,000 VND/kg. If demand increases significantly as the Lunar New Year approaches, a short-term price increase may occur, but the extent of the increase will depend on the ability to control disease outbreaks and the progress of restocking in each region.
