People benefit from service development

A new vitality is spreading.

Hong Thai commune, with an area of over 101 km² and a population of over 25,000 people, is home to six ethnic groups: Kinh, Cham, Nung, Hoa, San Diu, and Khmer. What makes Hong Thai special is not only its cultural diversity but also its increasingly vibrant economic development. According to Ngo Thi Hoai Trinh, Secretary of the Hong Thai Commune Party Committee, after the merger, Hong Thai has become even more complete and dynamic. In the fields, 60 tillers and soil preparation machines, 12 tractors, and a range of other mechanized equipment are helping farmers reduce their workload during each harvest season. Four combine harvesters and four rice cutting machines significantly save time and effort, especially for ethnic minority households that lack labor.

In the center of the commune, 24 dragon fruit purchasing agents and 19 stores selling fertilizers and pesticides operate bustlingly, forming a closed agricultural service chain. Along with these are gas stations, building material stores, and numerous repair shops for machinery and motorcycles... partly meeting the production and living needs of the people, especially ethnic minorities.

The future of Hong Thai is looking brighter as major projects such as the high-speed railway and the North-South expressway are gradually taking shape, shortening the distance for trade with other regions. This creates opportunities for ethnic minority communities to access markets, services, and jobs more easily. The commune aims to raise the average income of its residents to 78 million VND per person by 2030, while simultaneously promoting services, small-scale industries, attracting investment, and improving transportation infrastructure. These steps promise a significant improvement in the lives of the ethnic minority people in the area.

Development motivation

In Ham Thuan Bac commune, the trade and service sector is becoming a bright spot, continuously recording positive progress. According to Nguyen Thanh Tan, Secretary of the Commune Party Committee, the commune government has proactively created conditions for economic entities to expand their activities in food processing, mechanical repair, agricultural supplies, and various services supporting production and people's lives. As a result, people's incomes have improved significantly, and their living standards have risen.

Cooperative economic models have flourished, expanding linkages in the procurement of fresh dragon fruit for export, supplying agricultural materials, and implementing numerous production-consumption linkage projects. In addition, the commune currently has a ginger extract and essential oil production company, a solar power plant, 15 businesses, 5 farms, and 439 individual business households. These activities contribute to job creation, diversification of occupations, and strengthening of the local economy.

The rural market system has also been renovated and upgraded by the commune, making it spacious, clean, and beautiful, ensuring environmental hygiene and fire safety, facilitating trade for the people and promoting the development of commerce and services. According to the Secretary of the Party Committee of Ham Thuan Bac commune, the strong development of commerce and services in recent years has become an important driving force helping the locality shift its economic structure, increase income, and significantly improve the lives of the people, especially ethnic minorities.

The story from Hong Thai to Ham Thuan Bac shows a clear transformation in mountainous communes as trade, services, and small-scale industries develop in the right direction. New production models and an increasing number of service facilities not only create jobs but also open up new ways of thinking and doing things for ethnic minority people. They are also more confident in participating in the market, proactively investing, and boldly accessing capital and technology to improve their family's economy.
