Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City aims to increase the total number of OCOP products achieving 3 stars or higher to over 2,000 during the 2025-2030 period, including 5-10 products meeting national 5-star standards, with the potential for competitiveness and export. This is considered a strategic shift to further advance the city's distinctive products on the map of high-quality goods.
As of September 2025, Ho Chi Minh City currently has 1,026 OCOP products, mainly in the 3-4 star category, with no products yet reaching the national 5-star level. Ho Chi Minh City is also among the top 5 localities with the most OCOP products nationwide.

According to assessments, the "One Commune, One Product" program in Ho Chi Minh City achieved many positive results during the 2020-2025 period, but still faces some limitations such as small-scale production, inconsistent application of international standards, fragmented communication, and a lack of long-term support mechanisms for OCOP producers.
Entering a new phase, the city is strongly oriented towards the quality and sustainability of its products. Product groups with competitive advantages, such as processed foods, beverages, and handicrafts, will be prioritized for upgrading. The city encourages businesses to adopt advanced technologies and use clean, environmentally friendly materials to meet the increasingly stringent criteria of the international market.

Mr. Nguyen Van Da, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Agriculture and Environment, said that the Department will coordinate with relevant city agencies to upgrade 4-star products, aiming to achieve national 5-star standards. According to him, to achieve 5 stars, businesses need to invest systematically in product design, packaging, and quality, and must meet the export standards of each market.
“The goal is not just to increase the number of stars for promotion, but more importantly, to deliver genuine quality to consumers. OCOP products from Ho Chi Minh City must become a regular choice, not a temporary one. In 2026, we will bring OCOP products to the international market, expand distribution channels, and thereby sustainably increase people's income,” Mr. Da emphasized.
