Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City strives in the period 2025 - 2030 to increase the total number of OCOP products with 3 stars or more to more than 2,000 products, of which 5 - 10 products meet national 5-star standards, have the ability to compete and export. This is considered a strategic move to bring the city's typical products further on the map of high-quality goods.
As of September 2025, Ho Chi Minh City currently has 1,026 OCOP products, mainly in the 3-4 star group and no product has reached the national 5-star level. Ho Chi Minh City is also in the group of 5 localities with the most OCOP products in the country.

According to the assessment, in the period of 2020 - 2025, the "One Commune One Product" program in Ho Chi Minh City achieved many positive results, but there are still some limitations such as small production scale, international standards not being applied synchronously, fragmented communication and lack of long-term support mechanisms for OCOP subjects.
Entering the new phase, the city is focusing on product quality and sustainability. Product groups with advantages such as processed foods, beverages, handicrafts, etc. will be given priority for upgrading support. The city encourages businesses to apply advanced technology, use clean and environmentally friendly materials, to meet the increasingly strict criteria of the international market.

Mr. Nguyen Van Da, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the Department will coordinate with the city's functional units to upgrade the 4-star product group, aiming to reach the national 5-star standard. According to him, to achieve 5 stars, entities need to invest systematically in design, packaging, product quality and must meet the export standards of each market.
“The goal is not just to increase the stars for promotion, but more importantly, the real quality that reaches consumers. Ho Chi Minh City's OCOP products must become a regular choice, not a temporary one. In 2026, we will bring OCOP products to the international market, expand consumption channels, thereby increasing sustainable income for people,” Mr. Da emphasized.
