Technology is giving a new impetus to agriculture in Quang Ngai.

Quang Ngai agriculture is changing dramatically as people and cooperatives boldly apply technology, forming smart production models linked to the market.

With the support of the State in transferring science and technology, the production thinking of the people of Minh Tan Bac village (Mo Cay commune, Quang Ngai province) has changed rapidly in recent years. Mechanization has been introduced into every stage of production, from land preparation, planting to harvesting, helping to significantly reduce time, effort and costs.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khoa (residing in Minh Tan Bac village) said that currently, the locality has built production linkage groups that bring high efficiency. Production linkage groups have become a new support for farmers when synchronously applying many machines to grow rice and native plants. Automatic sprinkler irrigation system replaces traditional irrigation methods to help save water, reduce labor and increase farming efficiency. "Thanks to the application of new techniques, the income of households in the linkage group has increased, people are more secure in sticking to the fields," Mr. Khoa shared.

Along with the application of scientific and technological advances in production, farmers have also shifted from a self-sufficient production mindset to a planned, managed and linked-consumption commodity production model. These changes are clearly demonstrated in Mang Den - where many cooperatives are operating in the direction of organic agriculture combined with high technology to create agricultural products that meet standards, are safe and have traceability.

At the Mang Den Vegetable, Flower, Tourism and Youth Cooperative, each production line is completely digitalized. With just one software installed on the phone, the manager can monitor the entire process from sowing, watering, fertilizing to pest control. All data is recorded in real time, creating transparency and convenience when working with supermarkets and distribution partners.

Ms. Tran Ngoc Diep, Director of the Mang Den Vegetable, Flower, Tourism and Youth Cooperative, said that digitalization has helped the cooperative streamline its apparatus but increased operational efficiency. Currently, the unit supplies products to more than 40 supermarkets in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, but only one administrator is needed to manage all four gardens and handle a large volume of orders every day. “If we did it manually like before, the cooperative would have to hire more workers and it would be prone to errors. Now everything is recorded and compared automatically, so it is both fast and accurate,” Ms. Diep said.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Ngai province, despite many positive results, the application of high technology in agriculture in Quang Ngai still faces many difficulties. In particular, the scale of agricultural production in the province is still small and scattered, the infrastructure is not synchronized, making it difficult to implement large projects. Many farmers are still hesitant to invest in technology due to high initial costs and lack of operating skills.

To gradually overcome these limitations, in recent times, Quang Ngai has called for, encouraged and supported businesses to invest in and apply science and technology to agricultural production. At the same time, the locality has also established a council to appraise high-tech agricultural projects to review and select feasible projects with spillover effects, promoting the connection of "6 houses" (State, farmers, scientists, businesses, banks and distributors) to form a closed production chain, ensuring product output.

According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Ngai province, the province is continuing to strongly promote digital transformation and high technology in production. Up to now, Quang Ngai has formed two high-tech agricultural zones and attracted 20 investment projects with a total capital of more than 3,553 billion VND. Along with that, 37 factories and processing facilities have been formed, creating a foundation for a closed production - consumption process, increasing the competitiveness of agricultural products.
