Tractor trailer overturned in the middle of Mang Den pass, traffic paralyzed

At noon on November 15, authorities were still on duty to regulate traffic and carry out rescue operations at Mang Den Pass (Dak Rve Commune, Quang Ngai Province), after a tractor-trailer overturned and blocked the road, causing the pass to be jammed for many hours.

According to initial information, at around 10:40 p.m. on November 14, at Km123 of National Highway 24 (through Dak Rve Commune), after passing many consecutive curves, the tractor-trailer with license plate 76H-001... pulling a trailer driven by driver Tran Xuan Ba (51 years old, residing in Khanh Cuong Commune, Quang Ngai) traveling east-west showed signs of losing balance and control.

The car crashed straight into the barrier and overturned right in the middle of the road.

The cargo, which consisted of iron bars on the trailer, fell off the cliff. Luckily, both the cabin and the trailer remained on the road, so no further serious damage was caused.

Driver Ba was slightly injured but the tractor trailer was badly damaged.

That night, the traffic police were present to direct traffic and bring a tow truck up the pass. However, the accident site was on a sharp curve and the road was narrow, making it difficult to approach and tow the vehicle.

Traffic through the area was almost paralyzed, hundreds of vehicles were stuck on the pass, some sections were congested for about 1km.

By noon today, the rescue team had basically pulled the tractor and trailer back onto the road. One-way traffic was cleared, many vehicles escaped the jam from last night.

However, as the collection of goods that fell into the abyss and cleaning up the scene is still ongoing, traffic through the pass is still limited.

At 11:30 a.m., there were still many vehicles waiting on Mang Den Pass. Authorities said that if the rescue process goes smoothly, the scene clearance will be completed by 1:30 p.m. the same day and the pass will be open again.
