As a land of ancient geological values and rich indigenous culture, Lang Son has long been an attractive destination for tourists who love pristine nature, the history of the Earth's formation and the cultural life of ethnic minority communities.
On April 17, 2025, Lang Son Geopark was officially recognized by UNESCO as a Global Geopark. This event marked a major turning point for the locality to promote conservation and exploitation of heritage values, while creating a new driving force for sustainable tourism development.

The Organizing Committee announced the map of Khuon Bong cave, Vu Le commune, part of Lang Son UNESCO Global Geopark.
Speaking at the program, Ms. Pham Thi Huong, Head of Lang Son Geopark Management Department, said that the province is focusing on implementing the task of building and developing the geopark in the period of 2026 - 2030, aiming to maximize the advantages of landscape, ecosystem and indigenous culture.
Lang Son UNESCO Global Geopark covers an area of over 4,842 km², with a population of about 627,500 people, accounting for more than half of the province's total area. The vast geological space, the majestic cave system and the cultural and historical heritages associated with community life have created a unique attraction for this land. The diverse cultural identity, from residential architecture, cuisine to traditional festivals, creates a dual value for tourism - both exploring nature and experiencing profound culture.
In order to develop its potential, Lang Son has invested in synchronous transport infrastructure, accommodation facilities, and human resource training at tourist sites in the geopark. Discovery routes are built based on the combination of geological formation history, natural landscapes, and cultural life.

According to Ms. Huong, the geopark model has an open economic character, both preserving and promoting heritage values, creating a connection between the local community and tourists. "With unique values in history, culture, and intangible heritage, Lang Son UNESCO Global Geopark has the conditions to develop unique and highly competitive tourism products such as geotourism, cave exploration tourism, or adventure tourism," she emphasized.
