BIDV Insurance (BIC) received over 120 claims for losses following Typhoon No. 13, with estimated damages of 69 billion VND.

As of November 9, 2025, three days after Typhoon Kalmaegi (Typhoon No. 13) made landfall in Vietnam, BIDV Insurance Corporation (BIC) had recorded over 120 insurance claims, with total estimated losses exceeding VND 60 billion. The losses were mainly concentrated in two insurance lines: property and engineering insurance, and motor vehicle insurance.

According to information from BIC, claims adjusters were dispatched immediately after the storm subsided, quickly accessing the severely affected areas, promptly recording information on damage to people and property, and providing support, advice, and guidance to customers on initial handling to minimize losses.

BIC is working alongside customers to mitigate the consequences of Typhoon No. 13. In addition, BIC is directly meeting with, visiting, and encouraging customers, and is committed to supporting them in the process of recovering from losses. For cases of particularly complex losses, BIC immediately appoints independent assessment units to conduct damage assessments, and also assigns assessment officers to cooperate in determining the exact cause, extent of loss, and legal basis for implementing advance payments or compensation for customers.

"In the context of the severe damage caused by Typhoon No. 13 nationwide, BIC will continue to closely monitor the situation, coordinate closely with relevant authorities, customers, and partners to expedite the compensation process. With a commitment to always stand by our customers in all circumstances, BIC will mobilize maximum resources to ensure that the assessment and payment of compensation are carried out quickly, transparently, and in accordance with regulations, contributing to helping customers stabilize their lives and business operations after the natural disaster," a BIC representative stated.

Typhoon No. 13 (Kalmaegi) is considered one of the strongest typhoons of late 2025, causing heavy rain and gusts of wind reaching levels 10-11 in the central coastal region. The extent of material damage and business disruption is still being assessed by local authorities and insurance companies.

Following successive natural disasters, storms, and floods, localities from Ha Tinh to Dak Lak have suffered heavy losses in terms of human lives, homes, schools, essential infrastructure, production, and business, especially aquaculture, significantly impacting the livelihoods, income, and lives of the people. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh recently signed Official Dispatch No. 214/CD-TTg dated November 12, 2025, on urgently compiling and assessing damage and focusing on quickly overcoming the consequences of storms and floods in the Central region.
