BIDV Insurance (BIC) received more than 120 loss cases after storm No. 13, estimated damage of 69 billion VND

As of November 9, 2025, three days after storm No. 13 (Kalmaegi) made landfall in Vietnam, BIDV Insurance Corporation (BIC) has recorded more than 120 insurance losses, with total estimated losses exceeding VND60 billion. The losses are mainly concentrated in two lines of business: property-technical insurance and motor vehicle insurance.

According to information from BIC, compensation assessors were dispatched immediately after the storm, quickly approaching heavily damaged areas, promptly recording information on human and property damage, and at the same time supporting, advising, and guiding customers on initial handling to minimize damage.

BIC accompanies customers to overcome the consequences of storm No. 13. In addition, BIC also directly meets, visits, encourages customers and commits to accompany them in the process of overcoming the consequences of losses. For losses of a special nature with complicated developments, BIC immediately appoints independent appraisal units to conduct loss appraisal, and at the same time sends appraisal officers to coordinate in order to determine the exact cause, extent of loss and legal basis to implement advance payment or compensation plans for customers.

"In the context of the serious damage caused by storm No. 13 nationwide, BIC will continue to closely monitor the situation, coordinate closely with authorities, customers and partners to speed up the compensation process. With the commitment to always accompany customers in all circumstances, BIC will mobilize maximum resources to ensure that the appraisal and compensation payment are carried out quickly, transparently and in accordance with regulations, contributing to helping customers soon stabilize their lives and business activities after natural disasters" - BIC representative said.

Storm No. 13 (Kalmaegi) is considered one of the strongest storms in late 2025, causing heavy rain and wind gusts of level 10-11 in the central coastal region. Local authorities and insurance companies are continuing to count and assess material damage and business disruptions.

Due to consecutive natural disasters, storms and floods, localities from Ha Tinh to Dak Lak have suffered heavy losses in terms of lives, houses, schools, essential infrastructure, production, business, especially aquaculture, greatly affecting people's livelihoods, income and life. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh recently signed Official Dispatch No. 214/CD-TTg dated November 12, 2025 on urgently collecting statistics, assessing damages and focusing on quickly overcoming the consequences of storms and floods in the Central region.
