Through the coffee picking competition, displaying coffee products and models, the teams sent a message honoring the value of Arabica Chieng An, promoting the image of local agricultural products and spreading pride in coffee growing. The activities not only created a highlight for the Festival but also contributed to introducing the identity, ingenuity and solidarity of the people of Chieng An in particular and Son La province in general.
The coffee picking competition at the first Coffee Festival in Chieng An ward, Son La province in 2025 was held at a coffee plantation in Trung Tam village, Chieng An ward. Many tourists from other provinces and local people came to experience and cheer on the teams at the coffee picking competition. The teams have 20 minutes to complete the challenge, and are scored based on 100% ripeness, standard operations, and smooth coordination. The competition not only brings an exciting seasonal atmosphere but also honors coffee growers, spreading the value of Arabica Chieng An in particular, and Son La coffee in general. Team members from Trung Tam village prepare models of stilt houses made from coffee beans.
Before presenting to the judges, the team members also helped each other prepare their costumes with traditional Piêu scarves of their ethnic group. The S-shaped symbol of Vietnam was created by the team from Tong Xet village, Chieng An ward from coffee beans, creating a unique highlight at the team's coffee product display booth. The team from Phieng Tam village prepared entries that contained at least 70% coffee, meeting the requirements of shaping techniques, layout and application. The teams also focused on choosing coffee beans, stems, leaves, shells and suitable auxiliary materials to complete the product according to the Organizing Committee's criteria with the team's own creativity.
One of the entries from the team from Pang village features a typical stilt house of the Thai ethnic group and a design with the words "Quintessence from coffee beans". Many tourists and locals in Thai ethnic costumes came to experience and capture beautiful photos of the unique model of the team from Phieng Nghe village, Chieng An ward. With a prominent display area featuring the S-shape of Vietnam and the words "I Love Vietnam", the team from the resettlement village of Phieng Tam attracted many tourists to visit and take photos. The teams will present their presentations to the judges and visitors for a maximum of 3 minutes. The presentations will focus on the design ideas, materials, production process and main messages of the work, contributing to spreading the image of “Chieng An Coffee”. The jury independently scored entries based on five criteria: Creativity and adherence to the theme; overall design and layout; materials and coffee usage; environmental friendliness and applicability; and explanation.
From the fruit picking competition to each product in the coffee product display competition, the teams sent a message honoring the value of Arabica Chieng An in particular, Arabica Son La in general. The activities contributed to promoting the image of local coffee and enriching the atmosphere of the first Chieng An Ward Coffee Festival, Son La province in 2025.
