Together to overcome natural disasters
Consecutively suffering from two storms No. 5 and No. 10 and floods caused by prolonged heavy rains, Ha Tinh has become the epicenter of natural disasters for over two months. Amidst countless hardships, when villages were submerged in water and people lost many properties, the flame of solidarity and affection of Ha Tinh people was lit up again, warming people's hearts and giving strength to the homeland to steadfastly overcome the storm.

Faced with complicated weather developments, the Standing Committee of Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee issued directives and directed the political system to take drastic action; the Provincial People's Committee continuously issued urgent telegrams and held urgent meetings to specifically direct response plans, requesting localities and forces to flexibly deploy "4 on-site" measures, putting people's safety first and foremost.
Thanks to that close direction, the authorities promptly evacuated people and property to safety. When the storm passed, without anyone telling anyone, everyone rolled up their sleeves to support the people, especially the poor and single-parent families, to clean up and overcome the consequences.

During the days of rising flood waters, trucks carrying relief goods continued to head to the flooded areas; field kitchens were kept on fire day and night to prepare thousands of hot meals to be delivered to people in isolated areas.
The spirit of volunteering for the community of grassroots cadres, union members, and members of political and social organizations also spread widely. They were the ones who arrived early at key points to evacuate people, protect property, transport relief goods, provide food for people, and clean up mud after the storm. Many people stayed up all night to take care of meals and accommodation for people.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Nguyen Ny Huong said: “We have established a provincial mobile team with 200 union members and 69 commune-level teams; organized more than 1,000 activities to support people, attracting more than 10,000 union members to participate. Along with that, the Provincial Youth Union has mobilized more than 6 billion VND and a large amount of necessities to promptly provide relief to people with the spirit that wherever there is difficulty, there are young people.”
After the storm and flood, Ha Tinh suffered heavy losses with more than 136,000 houses damaged, thousands of hectares of crops and aquatic products washed away; hundreds of schools and medical facilities had their roofs blown off and were in disrepair. When the storm passed, difficulties still piled up, and people began the journey to rebuild their lives.

Although the villages are still devastated, many buildings and houses have not been repaired, but throughout the residential areas, the atmosphere of the National Great Unity Day is still warm and affectionate. Without lavish parties or big programs, this year's festival is more profound with "homegrown" art performances and donated gifts given directly to poor and disadvantaged households.
Mass organizations and volunteer groups also actively responded to the "For the Poor" Peak Month, spreading the spirit of mutual love, contributing to alleviating loss and adding motivation to people in disaster areas.

Mr. Trinh Quoc Vinh - Party cell secretary, head of Hong Hai residential group (Hoanh Son ward) shared: "After the storm and flood, people faced many difficulties, but when the Great Unity Day approached, everyone came together to clean up, decorate the cultural house, and prepare gifts to give to poor households. The more difficult the situation is, the more the spirit of sharing in the community is multiplied, that is the deepest meaning of the Great Unity Day of the whole nation".
Full of meaning, full of love
The people of Ha Tinh are united, resilient and brave, but it would be difficult to overcome the continuous stormy days without the love and support of the people of the whole country. After storm No. 5, from the beginning of September 2025 until now, the Ha Tinh Relief Fund has received over 123 billion VND and hundreds of tons of goods and necessities from organizations, individuals, businesses and people at home and abroad.

In addition, Vingroup Corporation supported nearly 94 billion VND to help more than 4,600 households overcome the damage. Hundreds of officials and engineers in the electricity and telecommunications sectors from many provinces and cities traveled long distances to help Ha Tinh restore the power grid, ensuring the "information blood vessels" to serve the direction and overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
Being surrounded by such deep affection, the people of Ha Tinh are more aware of the value of sharing. And then, even though they have not yet recovered from the consecutive storms, the people here turn to their fellow countrymen in the flood-hit areas of the North and other provinces in the Central region as a word of gratitude.

When the North was struggling with severe floods, Mr. Tran Xuan Vu (Thanh Sen ward) and two friends loaded a canoe, life jackets, and necessities onto the car and rushed to the flood-hit areas of Thai Nguyen and Bac Ninh. For many nights in a row, his group quietly rowed the boat in the fast-flowing currents, rescuing dozens of people to safety.
When the North had just temporarily calmed down, other provinces in the Central region entered the war with the "water god", Mr. Tran Xuan Vu and his team continued on their way to Hue City to support the rescue work. Accompanying them was the SOS Rescue Team Ha Tinh led by Mr. Dau Van Man (Mai Phu commune).

Volunteer groups, who had not yet had time to rest after consecutive rescues, quickly gathered relief supplies, tied up inflatable boats, and rushed into the flood zone. Mr. Man shared: “We were overwhelmed with text messages and distress calls from the people. The whole team only had time to quickly eat a bowl of noodles and then get back on the boat. Although exhausted, everyone tried a little harder, thinking of those who were isolated in the raging water.”
Not only the direct rescue teams, in the "rear" of Ha Tinh, volunteer groups and organizations are also busy cooking tens of thousands of meals, preparing dry food, sesame salt, dried fish, drinking water, life jackets... to send to the North and other provinces in the Central region.

Ms. Le My - Head of the Hong Linh Tu Tam Charity Group shared: "We have received so much help from people across the country during the storm and flood seasons, so now, when people in the provinces are in trouble, we only want to contribute a small part as a word of gratitude. During the recent flood, the group donated 7 tons of goods including food, drinking water, and life jackets to people in flood-affected areas in the provinces."
Having lived with natural disasters for generations, Ha Tinh people understand better than anyone what people in flood-affected areas need and lack in times of difficulty. That is why a community volunteer team of 14 teachers, students and pupils from the Faculty of Automotive Technology - Ha Tinh College of Technology went to Hue City to help people and university students repair motorbikes damaged after many days of being submerged in water.

Mr. Le Van Manh - Secretary of the school's Youth Union and team leader said: "We have repaired more than 200 motorbikes. Although human resources are limited, everyone tries to contribute a small part to support the people, demonstrating the spirit and responsibility of the young generation to the community."
Amidst the harshness of natural disasters, Ha Tinh people still stand up with a spirit of solidarity and bravery. Each passing flood can damage houses and property, but it also leaves behind precious things: love and sharing between people. These things have built up strength and confidence, helping Ha Tinh firmly overcome the storm.
