In his opening speech at the Forum, VUSTA Vice President Pham Ngoc Linh emphasized that innovation and digital transformation are inevitable trends that are taking place rapidly in the 4.0 industrial revolution. In the context of global integration, Vietnam in general and the education and training sector in particular need to act urgently if they do not want to miss the opportunity.
Vietnam is actively transforming education digitally in a comprehensive and profound way. However, innovation and digital transformation activities in the education and training sector are currently facing many difficulties and limitations in terms of infrastructure and information technology equipment. Digitization, construction and updating of digital learning materials; human resources for evaluating and sharing digital learning materials; collection and exploitation of education management data and digital learning materials... require a common legal framework in accordance with regulations on copyright, intellectual property, information security, electronic transactions...

Agreeing with the opinion of VUSTA Vice President Pham Ngoc Linh, Dr. Nguyen Quan, former Minister of Science and Technology, commented: the biggest challenge for the current education system is infrastructure. Despite possessing good human resources, even not inferior to any nation, Vietnam is still behind in terms of science and technology infrastructure in general and AI in particular.
"These areas require huge investments from the State. If the infrastructure does not meet the requirements, people in remote, isolated or rural areas will have difficulty accessing new technologies and having the tools to get acquainted with all technology platforms such as AI, IoT, Big Data or Blockchain. No matter how hard we try, the rate of people accessing modern technology platforms will still be very limited without a good infrastructure," said Dr. Nguyen Quan.
At the forum, speakers presented a number of reports on innovation, digital transformation of education and training to effectively respond to the implementation of Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.
More specifically, the discussion series focused on models and solutions for AI transformation in teaching and school management; AI risk management framework in education and training; towards innovative university models and comprehensive digital transformation; personalization in teaching and learning with AI; technology application solutions in digital transformation of schools.
During the discussion session, delegates continued to discuss in depth national standards for digital transformation in education, AI capacity of educational institutions, open data and the "Vietnam Edtech Alliance" model.
