Vietnamese chess wins big at the 2025 Asian Mind Sports Games

Grandmaster (GM) Le Tuan Minh has become the brightest star of the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 2025 Asian Mind Sports Games when he excellently won two gold medals in both rapid chess and blitz chess.

The 29-year-old's performance in Singapore is a clear demonstration of the strength of Vietnamese chess on the continental arena.

In particular, in the Blitz event that ended this afternoon, November 15, Le Tuan Minh was almost unrivaled with a destructive performance.

He won 10.5/11 maximum points, including 10 wins and only one draw, without losing to any opponent.

Tuan Minh's only draw was against the silver medalist. Notably, in all four intense matches with other Grandmasters, Tuan Minh won absolutely.

The Vietnamese player surpassed the silver medalist (Trieu Than Hy) and bronze medalist (Tin Jingyao) by 1.5 points, confirming his complete superiority. The number one seed of the tournament, Susanto Megaranto (Indonesia) could only finish fifth with 7.5 points.

Le Tuan Minh’s victory in both rapid and blitz chess was not a big surprise, even though he was not the number one seed. Vietnam’s number three player is considered one of the players who regularly competes and plays online with the world’s top players in rapid and blitz chess.

This rich experience in online chess competitions gives him a great advantage, helping him to have acumen and situation handling speed that is superior to the other players at the Congress.

With the excellent performance of Le Tuan Minh, the Vietnamese chess team won two gold medals in their category. Meanwhile, in Chinese chess, China continued to show its dominance by winning all six medals in this category.

The 2025 Asian Mind Sports Games will take place in Singapore from November 13 to 15, bringing together five competitions including Chinese chess, chess, Go, bridge and speed Rubik's cube.
