U22 Indonesia will almost certainly bring its strongest squad of players to SEA Games 33.

With the goal of defending the title at the 2025 SEA Games, the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) has invested heavily in the U22 team under the leadership of coach Indra Sjafri, who helped them win a historic gold medal at the previous games.

During the preparation, U22 Indonesia just had a friendly match with a strong opponent from Africa, U22 Mali. Despite the 0-3 defeat, coach Indra Sjafri was not discouraged. Most notable is coach Indra Sjafri's desire to call up star midfielder Marselino Ferdinan. This player born in 2004 is the key factor, helping U22 Indonesia win the SEA Games 2023.

"We are in discussions with a few other players. The plan includes convincing Ferdinan to return. I believe that with the quality of the players we have, the squad will become very strong," coach Sjafri shared.

Currently, Marselino Ferdinan is trying to regain his peak form in the AS Trencin club shirt in the Slovakian National Championship.

The fact that a player playing in Europe was determined by coach Indra Sjafri to call him back shows that Indonesia is ready to bring to the 33rd SEA Games a "powerful" and competitive squad.

Although coach Sjafri modestly said that Marselino's presence does not 100% guarantee a gold medal, he is sure that the striker's creativity and class will help U22 Indonesia become much stronger.

With careful preparation and determination to summon the brightest stars, U22 Indonesia is sending a strong challenge to regional opponents, especially U22 Vietnam.
