Hoang Thi Ngoc Anh won the first gold medal for Vietnamese athletics at the Southeast Asian youth tournament.

Vietnamese athletics has just won its first gold medal in the U20 women's 1,500m race at the 2025 Southeast Asian Youth Athletics Championship.

On November 15, in Indonesia, the 2025 Southeast Asian Youth Athletics Championship officially kicked off. The Vietnamese athletics team participated with 32 athletes, many of whom had good skills in national competitions.

On the opening day, Vietnam's athletics team won its first gold medal in the U20 women's 1,500m race. Athlete Hoang Thi Ngoc Anh finished first with a time of 4 minutes 53.41 seconds, despite the efforts of the host Indonesian opponent - Nurul A Mutiara O (4 minutes 55.04 seconds).

Hoang Thi Ngoc Anh competes in the 1,500m, 3,000m steeplechase and 5,000m races. This young girl is expected to follow in the footsteps of her senior Nguyen Thi Oanh in the future.

At the 2025 Southeast Asian Youth Athletics Championships, athletes will compete in two age groups: U18 and U20. In addition to young athlete Hoang Thi Ngoc Anh, many potential athletes of Vietnamese athletics promise to achieve high results such as: Mai Ngoc Anh, Luong Thi Khan, Luong Binh Duong , Nguyen Huu Tin, Danh Thanh Toan, Quynh Anh, Xuan Tien, Duong Mai, Tan Khiem...

At the 2024 Southeast Asian Youth Athletics Championships held in Malaysia, Vietnamese athletics won 8 gold medals, 4 silver medals, 4 bronze medals and broke 2 records to rank 3rd overall.

The 2025 Southeast Asian Youth Athletics Championships ended on November 18. According to the leader of the Vietnamese youth athletics team at the tournament - Mr. Nguyen Duc Nguyen, this is an opportunity for the coaching staff to better understand the level between young athletes of Vietnam and those of other countries in the region, thereby making investments in the future of potential athletes.
