Kuwait is the first stop on the Prime Minister 's working trip to three countries: Kuwait, Algeria, and South Africa.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh 's visit to Kuwait took place from November 16-18 at the invitation of Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al Sabah.

Welcoming the Prime Minister and his wife and delegation at Kuwait International Airport were: members of the Royal Family, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Kuwait Basel Humood Al-Sabah, Minister in charge of Social Affairs, Labor, Family and Youth Amthal Al Huwaila, and Kuwaiti Ambassador to Vietnam Yousef Ashour Al-Sabbagh.
On the Vietnamese side, there were Vietnamese Ambassador to Kuwait Nguyen Duc Thang, Embassy staff and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Kuwait.
This is the Vietnamese Prime Minister's visit to Kuwait after 16 years, towards the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Kuwait diplomatic relations in 2026 (January 10, 1976 - January 10, 2026).
It is expected that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will hold talks and meet with the King of Kuwait, the Prime Minister, and the Crown Prince; visit socio-economic establishments, work with major economic groups, and deliver policy speeches at the Kuwait Diplomatic Academy.
The two sides will discuss, agree on directions and measures, and determine a framework for deeper cooperation in the coming time; promoting bilateral relations to new heights.
Kuwait is the Middle Eastern country with the largest total investment capital in Vietnam, most notably the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Plant project.
The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development has over the years supported essential infrastructure projects in Vietnam, with a total value to date reaching 182 million USD through 15 projects in many provinces and cities.
In local cooperation, the two countries have had a number of cooperation agreements such as Ho Chi Minh City and Ahmadi province, Thanh Hoa province and Farwaniya province..., thereby promoting delegation exchanges, trade promotion and people-to-people exchanges.
In education and training, the Kuwaiti government has created favorable conditions to grant scholarships for many Vietnamese students to study Arabic at Kuwait University every year since 2013.
After 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations, the two countries are now witnessing wide-open opportunities to develop potential fields such as energy security, food security, investment in implementing projects on financial centers and technological infrastructure, tourism cooperation, etc.
