Mr. Le Dinh Phuong - Director of Pu Luong Nature Reserve Management Board, said that Pu Luong eco- tourism area attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year to visit and explore.

Pu Luong Peak is over 1,700m high, an ideal “cloud hunting” spot but has not been exploited for tourism before. Therefore, the Management Board of Pu Luong Nature Reserve has built an adventure tourism route “conquering Pu Luong Peak”.

According to Mr. Phuong, the trekking route "conquering Pu Luong peak" is a new eco-tourism product, part of the Project on eco-tourism, resort and entertainment in the special-use forest of Pu Luong Nature Reserve until 2030, with a vision to 2045, approved by the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province in Decision No. 4513 dated November 29, 2023.

The route has a total length of about 11km, starting from Pu Luong village and ending at Bang village (Pu Luong commune). Of which, nearly 2km of forest road is considered "adventurous" with a slope of over 35 degrees, challenging both the physical and mental strength of tourists who love to experience and explore .

“This is a trekking journey in a special-use forest with a rich ecosystem and pristine landscape, where visitors can 'touch the clouds, the sky and the mountain wind' when setting foot on the 1,700m high Pu Luong peak,” Mr. Phuong shared.

According to the plan, the journey to “conquer Pu Luong peak” will last for 2 days. On the first day, from 7am, visitors will move to the starting point at Pu Luong village, listen to the tour guide disseminate the regulations, trekking skills and prepare the necessary tools for the journey.

Next, the group began to cross the Hoang Dan forest - where there is a rare tree population listed in the Vietnam Red Book. At 9:40, visitors rested at Khoai cave, then continued deeper into the forest. At around 11:30, the group stopped for lunch at Tham Mo cave, where there is a natural forest ecosystem with many endemic plant species.

In the afternoon, the journey becomes more challenging when visitors have to overcome slopes of more than 35 degrees to reach the Tiger Tongue Rock, an ideal stop to rest, take photos and admire the majestic panorama of Pu Luong. From here, there is only about 2km of the last forest road to reach the highest peak.

At around 3:30 p.m., after nearly a day of trekking, visitors set foot on the top of Pu Luong, the symbol of the “roof of Thanh land”. Here, people can camp and enjoy dinner in the middle of the mountains and forests with rustic Thai dishes such as grilled chicken, sticky rice, corn wine, banana wine, etc.

The next morning, from 6am, visitors will experience the moment of cloud hunting and watching the sunrise on the top of Pu Luong, one of the experiences that many people consider “the most valuable of the trip”. The sea of white clouds, floating, covers the valley, creating a rare majestic and poetic scene.

According to Mr. Phuong, this entire adventure tour is designed in the direction of "controlled eco-tourism", limiting the number of guests per trip, absolutely no waste discharge and no impact on the landscape or forest environment.

“We want to turn Pu Luong into a sustainable ecological destination, where visitors can both experience and contribute to nature conservation. Each trip is not only a journey of discovery, but also an opportunity for visitors to better understand the value of the forest and the unique ecosystem here,” Mr. Phuong emphasized.
