On the evening of November 16, the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard announced that its forces had just coordinated with Squadron 33 (Coast Guard Region 3) to safely receive 5 fishermen from fishing boat LA 99034 TS in distress in the waters of Con Dao.
Previously, at 3:13 a.m. on November 16, the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard received news that the LA 99034 TS ship, captained by Vo Hong Chau (47 years old, Dong Thap ) and 4 crew members, had a water leak and sank while operating about 6 nautical miles from Ben Dam Bay. The ship was engaged in single-net trawling, departing from Dinh An port (Vinh Long) on August 14, 2025.
Upon receiving the information, Con Dao Border Guard Station deployed a rescue plan and issued an urgent notice to vessels operating near the area. Through the voyage monitoring system, the two nearest fishing vessels were ordered to approach, including BV 95738 TS (captain Truong Van Giao, 41 years old) and TG 92308 TS (captain Nguyen Thanh Phuoc, 40 years old).
At 2:45 a.m., BV 95738 TS rescued 4 crew members. At around 3:00 a.m., TG 92308 TS rescued Captain Chau. At 5:00 a.m., all 5 people were gathered on TG 92308 TS and brought to shore. The crew members' health was checked and assessed as stable.
Currently, Con Dao Border Guard Station has arranged accommodation and worked with the captain and crew to verify the cause of the ship sinking.
