Forecast: Northern region welcomes strong cold air, widespread cold weather

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, around the afternoon and night of November 17, a strong cold spell will affect the Northeast and North Central regions, then the Northwest, Central Central regions and some places in the South Central region.

This is the strongest cold spell since the beginning of the season.

On November 17-18, the North will have rain, showers and thunderstorms in some places. From the evening and night of November 17, the weather will turn cold in the midlands, the deltas of the North and the North Central region. The mountainous areas of the North will be very cold, and some highland areas will be extremely cold.

The lowest temperature in this cold air mass in the midlands, Northern Delta and North Central region is commonly 12-15 degrees Celsius, in mountainous areas 9-12 degrees Celsius, and in high mountainous areas in some places below 8 degrees Celsius.

Hanoi weather will be rainy and showery on November 17-18. From the evening and night of November 17, the weather will turn cold, with the lowest temperature of 13-15 degrees.

Also according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on November 16, from Ha Tinh to Da Nang City, the eastern provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa will experience moderate rain, heavy rain, and locally very heavy rain.

During the 2 days of November 17-18, from Quang Tri to Da Nang city, the eastern part of Quang Ngai and Gia Lai provinces will have heavy to very heavy rain, rainfall ranging from 200-400 mm, in some places over 700 mm. Ha Tinh, the eastern part of Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa provinces will have heavy rain, locally very heavy rain, rainfall of 100-250 mm, locally over 350 mm.

The meteorological agency warned of the risk of heavy rain in a short period of time, with rainfall possibly exceeding 200 mm in 3 hours, posing many potential risks of natural disasters such as flash floods, landslides, and flooding.

From Thanh Hoa to Hue in the North (Thanh Hoa - Nghe An), there will be rain, showers and thunderstorms in some places, in Nghe An, there will be moderate to heavy rain. In the South, there will be heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms. North to northwest wind level 2-3. In the North, it will be cold in the morning. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Lowest temperature 20-23°C. Highest temperature 23-26°C.

The North Central Highlands has moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain. The South has moderate rain and thunderstorms, some places have heavy to very heavy rain. Northeast wind level 2-3. During thunderstorms, there is a risk of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Lowest temperature 18-21°C. Highest temperature 25-28°C, some places above 28°C.
