On November 17, many Kuwaiti news sites such as kuwaittimes.com, kuna.net.kw and timeskuwait.com... simultaneously reported on the official visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation to this country from November 16-18 with a schedule of a series of important meetings.
News sites stressed that this was the first visit by a Vietnamese leader to Kuwait in 16 years.
The visit takes place in the context that the two countries are preparing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in January 2026, clearly reflecting the common desire to bring bilateral relations to a new strategic height.
The highlight of the visit was Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's important speech at the Kuwaiti Saud N. Al-Sabah Institute of Foreign Affairs, presenting Vietnam's foreign policy and strategic vision to promote Vietnam-Kuwait relations.
According to kuwaittimes.com, Vietnam is increasingly demonstrating its role as one of the world's economic and innovation centers.
Vietnam ranks 32nd globally in terms of GDP and is among the top 20 countries in terms of both trade turnover and foreign direct investment.
With total trade turnover exceeding 800 billion USD and FDI exceeding 500 billion USD, Vietnam is now deeply integrated into regional and global value chains.
Vietnam participates in 17 free trade agreements and more than 500 other trade frameworks. Vietnam's growth prospects remain solid, with GDP forecast to reach over 8% in 2025 and over 10% in 2026.
In terms of diplomacy, Vietnam has established relations with 194 countries, including 38 comprehensive or strategic partners, including all global powers.
Multilaterally, Vietnam is an active member of more than 70 international political, economic and cultural organizations, with an increasingly expanding role in peacekeeping and humanitarian missions.

Kuwait-Vietnam cooperation has been growing steadily, especially in the fields of trade and investment. Bilateral trade turnover is expected to reach a record of 7.3 billion USD by 2024, the highest between Vietnam and any Middle Eastern partner.
Vietnam's exports to Kuwait are constantly diversifying, from agricultural and aquatic products to fresh fruits, wooden furniture, machinery, equipment and electronics.
Among the Middle Eastern countries, Kuwait has the largest investment portfolio in Vietnam. The key project is the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Complex, with Kuwait contributing about 3.5 billion USD.
In addition to economic relations, the two countries also maintain extensive cooperation in many fields. The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development has funded 15 infrastructure projects in Vietnam, with a total amount of up to 182 million USD.
At the local level, the partnership between Ho Chi Minh City and Ahmadi province, as well as Thanh Hoa province and Farwaniya province, has promoted cultural, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.
The kuwaittimes.com website affirmed that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit is expected to reaffirm the long-standing friendship between the two countries and pave the way for a new chapter of cooperation as the two countries look towards the next 50 years of partnership./.
