The Crown Prince of Kuwait welcomed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation on an official visit, affirming that the visit is of historic significance, opening a new phase of cooperation between the two countries.

Expressing his deep impression of Vietnam's recent socio-economic achievements, the Crown Prince highly appreciated Vietnam's role and prestige in the Asia- Pacific region and in international forums; emphasizing that Kuwait considers Vietnam a dynamic and trustworthy partner and an important bridge to help Kuwait strengthen relations with ASEAN.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stressed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to further strengthen substantive and effective cooperation with Kuwait, Vietnam's important partner in the Middle East.

The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for Kuwait's valuable support for Vietnam over the years and respectfully conveyed the regards and invitation to visit Vietnam from General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong to the Crown Prince and Kuwaiti leaders.

Assessing that the potential for cooperation between the two countries is still very large, the Prime Minister asked the Crown Prince to direct the promotion of cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, oil and gas, defense, security, science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, labor and education and training. Vietnam asked Kuwait to support the early negotiation of the Vietnam - GCC FTA and the launch of negotiations on the Vietnam - Kuwait Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement this year.

The Prime Minister also proposed negotiating a long-term framework agreement on strategic commodities to ensure food security for Kuwait and projects to support the development of the Halal ecosystem in Vietnam. The two leaders agreed to effectively promote existing cooperation mechanisms, including increasing the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level ones, and soon studying the opening of direct flights between the two countries.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked Kuwaiti investment funds and businesses to step up investment in Vietnam’s potential sectors, while coordinating and creating favorable conditions for the operation of the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Complex Project, a symbol of strategic cooperation between the two countries.

Discussing regional and international issues of mutual concern, the two leaders agreed that the two countries need to continue to closely coordinate at multilateral forums and support each other in expanding Vietnam's cooperative relations with the Gulf region and Kuwait's with ASEAN for the goals of peace, cooperation and sustainable development.
