Professor - Doctor Le Van Loi, President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, said that the election of Associate Professor Nguyen Tuan Cuong as a Foreign Correspondent by the French Academy of Inscriptions and Fine Arts is a very valuable recognition for the Vietnamese social sciences and humanities community.
This is the respect of a prestigious academy with a history of hundreds of years, for the serious and persistent academic contributions of a Vietnamese scholar. This achievement shows that Vietnamese intellectuals can completely step out into the world with real capacity and dedication, and at the same time reflects the maturity of the domestic research team in the process of international integration.
This event is even more meaningful in the context of the Vietnamese scientific community actively promoting international cooperation in science and technology development in the spirit of Resolution 57 of the Politburo.
This is also an important motivation for young researchers to continue to nurture their passion, pursue true academic values and contribute to bringing research on Vietnamese culture and history closer to international friends.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Tuan Cuong, the title of Correspondant étranger is an academic honor reserved for international scholars with outstanding contributions in the field of humanities. His selection demonstrates the respect of a leading prestigious European academy for the contributions of Vietnamese scholars, not just him personally.
He expressed his deep gratitude to his predecessors such as Professor Phan Huy Le, Professor Ha Van Tan, Professor Nguyen Tai Can, Professor Nguyen Quang Hong - those who laid the foundation for Han Nom research and classical humanities, creating a foundation for future generations to follow.
Associate Professor Nguyen Tuan Cuong said that Vietnam needs to invest more heavily in basic research, especially in fundamental fields such as history, archaeology, cultural studies, linguistics and Han Nom - fields that do not bring immediate material value but are the core of national identity and the foundation for equal dialogue with the world.
According to him, only when Vietnam has a solid academic foundation from within, with a team of well-trained experts and an open spirit, can Vietnamese knowledge be heard at the international level.
