Vietnamese rock band wears ao dai to perform on legendary stage in America

(Dan Tri) - Rock band Da Ma attracted attention when performing at Whisky a Go Go (Hollywood, USA) as special guests on the international tour of the famous band Trapt.

Whisky a Go Go has long been considered a legendary stage for rock fans, and was the starting point for many big names in the world such as The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Mötley Crüe, Guns N' Roses...

Recently, the image of Da Ma appearing in ao dai, performing melodies that blend modern rock and Vietnamese folk sounds, created a moment of both pride and emotion.

The leader of Da Ma, Hung BlackhearteD, shared: “We are honored to bring Vietnamese culture to the legendary stage of Whisky a Go Go (Hollywood, USA). In addition to all members being born in Vietnam and having Vietnamese blood, we also bring Ao Dai and folk songs and melodies such as Trong Com , Beo Dat May Troi … to international audiences.

It is the cultural beauty left by our ancestors that creates the difference between the world's rock music capital".

Da Ma is known as one of the rare Vietnamese rock bands that remains faithful to a direction that is imbued with a strong local identity. The band's music is considered to be both powerful and fierce in the spirit of Western rock, while also containing profound Vietnamese melodies, rhythms and language.

"We not only renew Vietnamese rock, but also show the world that Vietnamese culture can absolutely speak its own voice in the global music space. Perhaps this is what helped Da Ma catch the eye of Trapt - a famous rock band from California founded in the late 1990s," the group's representative shared.

Trapt made a global splash with the song Headstrong from their debut album released in 2002. The album quickly achieved platinum certification in the US, making Trapt one of the leading representatives of the post-grunge and alternative rock wave of the early 2000s.

Meanwhile, Whisky a Go Go is considered the “world’s rock and roll mecca”, established in 1964, located on the Sunset Strip. Over the decades, this place has witnessed the birth of many rock legends.

In 2006, Whisky a Go Go was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a “historic landmark” in the music world. Performing here is considered a dream for any rock band. The appearance of a Vietnamese band on this stage is a testament to the growing stature of Vietnamese rock.

Da Ma was founded in the US by Hung BlackhearteD, leader of the band Black Infinity, one of the familiar names in the Vietnamese rock community. In addition, the band is also a gathering of many prominent faces from rock bands that have made their mark in Vietnam, spanning 3 generations of artists.

Among them, the appearance of guitarist Tran An Nguyen - son of guitarist Tran Tuan Hung, leader of the band Buc Tuong - especially attracted attention. The presence of Tran An Nguyen (Nguyen Tran) not only brings youthfulness, but also reminds of the tenacious and dedicated spirit of his father, who has inspired many generations of rock lovers in Vietnam.
