'Drum Rice' and 'Floating Duckweed and Drifting Clouds' resound in Hollywood

Recently, at the legendary stage The Viper Room in Hollywood (USA), the audience enjoyed the melodies 'Drum Rice' and 'Floating Water Fern' through the creations of the group Da Ma.

The Viper Room has been considered the heart of Rock n' Roll in Los Angeles for the past 3 decades, where historic performances by Guns N' Roses, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Strokes, Oasis... were recorded. Therefore, the fact that a band with a Vietnamese cultural imprint performed Trong Com here became a special event.

Accordingly, at this first stage, Da Ma not only presented new compositions but also brought a familiar cover of Trong Com with the strong, fierce style of modern rock.

Da Ma had their first stage at the "legendary" The Viper Room in Hollywood. According to the group's representative, the name "Da Ma" was inspired by Buddhist scriptures, referring to the Da Ma Thien realm, a place where there is no sun or moon, but the red lotus blooming creates the day, and the white lotus creating the night.

Along with the debut at The Viper Room, on this occasion, Da Ma also released his first double single on digital music platforms. With a modern metal vibe mixed with Asian materials, the EP includes 2 songs, including a cover of Beo dat may troi.

These two songs are Da Ma's official greeting to the audience, and at the same time affirm the Fusion Rock direction that the band is pursuing: a harmony between tradition and modernity, between folk materials and the power of metal.

Not stopping there, Da Ma also revealed that he is in the process of completing the next recordings for his debut album. According to Hung BlackhearteD, in addition to music , Da Ma also wants to bring a strong Vietnamese image.

In particular, the Ao Dai - the traditional symbol of the Vietnamese people - will become the main costume when appearing on stage, and will be combined with other Asian fashion styles to create its own identity. This is not only an aesthetic choice, but also a declaration of Vietnamese cultural pride in the world cultural flow.

The band was founded in the US by Hung BlackhearteD - leader of the band Black Infinity, one of the familiar names in the Vietnamese rock community. In addition to Hung BlackhearteD, Da Ma is also a gathering of many prominent faces from bands that have made their mark in Vietnam, spanning 3 generations of artists.

Specifically, guitarist Tran An Nguyen - son of guitarist Tran Tuan Hung, leader of the band Buc Tuong - also attended. The presence of this member not only brings youthfulness, but also reminds us of the tenacity and dedication of his father, who has inspired many generations of Vietnamese rock lovers. In addition, there are: Cao Minh (former member of Disgusted), Quoc Hung (former member of Sagometal), Hoang Pio (member of The Headline and Friends), Tony Nguyen (former member of 3SomeBlues, Midnight Fire).
