Chosen by director Matt Shakman to join the Marvel cinematic universe, Julia Garner is no stranger to small screen audiences.
From her fierce portrayal of Ruth Langmore in Ozark - which earned her an Emmy and a Golden Globe - to her stunning turn as con artist Anna Delvey in Inventing Anna, Julia Garner has cemented her status as a Hollywood heavyweight.
In The Fantastic Four: First Steps, released on July 25, Julia Garner plays the Silver Surfer, the character that signals the end of humanity.
Choosing Shalla-Bal as the main villain marks a bold move by Marvel, as in previous films Silver Surfer was mainly played by male actors.

Julia Garner revealed to Variety that her take on Silver Surfer will please Marvel fans, thanks to the film's unique "retro-futuristic" style.
"I think it's really cool. It's a bit high fashion - I don't want to call it 'fashion show' style, but I think it could definitely be brought to the runway. With Marvel movies, the audience is very visual. The costumes have to be really attractive," she said.
Julia Garner: 'Fashion is about identity, not trends'
According to Fashionista, not only standing out on screen, the 31-year-old actress is also known for her naturally "cool" fashion style - from the red carpet to real life.
With her classic, mysterious beauty, wavy platinum hair and signature crimson lips, Julia Garner evokes the spirit of "Old Hollywood" (the beauty typical of Hollywood's golden age, usually the 1930s-1950s). She says much of her fashion inspiration comes from old movies.
"I'm an actress. I love movies. All About Eve is my favorite and Edith Head is probably the greatest fashion designer. I also love the costumes in Rosemary's Baby and Bonnie and Clyde. Honestly, any movie with Faye Dunaway has amazing costumes. Great acting and looking like a supermodel is rare," she said.

When taking on the role of super-swindler Anna Delvey in Inventing Anna - a character who always wears expensive and trendy clothes, Julia Garner seemed to be transformed into a dream world of costumes.
"I think fashion is one of the most creative forms of art - from design to wearing. It's also an expression of identity, because the way people dress reflects how they want others to see them. That's always intrigued me," she shared.
Julia Garner sees fashion as a "layer" that needs to be peeled away. She says her two biggest fashion icons in life are her grandmother and stylist Elizabeth Saltzman - who has accompanied her on many big and small red carpets. "My grandmother has great fashion sense. Elizabeth is an endless source of inspiration. They are both my 'muses'" - she says - Photo: PA Images
The actress commented: "I really like my grandmother's generation because they always dressed neatly. That shows respect for others. But now everyone wears sportswear, or tries to look 'cool' all the time." - Photo: WireImage

Julia Garner describes her personal style as "classic and timeless, but with a twist." She doesn't like things that are stereotypical, even if they're beautiful. She always likes clothes with personality - Photo: GOLDEN GLOBES
She shares her clear views on fast fashion and trends: “I don’t follow trends. Never. They don’t suit me. I wear what makes me feel confident, because that affects the way you walk, the way you present yourself. You can wear the most beautiful outfit, but if you don’t feel beautiful in it, it’s not worth standing out.” - Photo: WireImage
In addition, when it comes to self-care habits, Julia Garner revealed that she is a "bookworm", loves pets, and is fond of classic style. Before going to bed, she sets a timer for 20 minutes to put her phone away and read a book - Photo: WireImage

As a young star with an old soul, Julia Garner is the embodiment of the spirit of balance between heritage and innovation - something creative director Sabato De Sarno is pursuing at Gucci.
