The 3-star OCOP product Van Dai Rice of Thieu Vien Agricultural Service Cooperative, Thieu Trung commune is well consumed in the market.
After converting its operating model according to the 2012 Law on Cooperatives, Thieu Vien Agricultural Service Cooperative in Thieu Trung Commune has not only operated well in public services, but also promoted service activities to improve production and business efficiency. In particular, the Cooperative has promoted the application of science and technology in the production of rice seeds, vegetables and developed production and consumption linkages for people. The Cooperative has been highly appreciated by many businesses and partners for its rice seeds and commercial rice products. Since 2021, when the locality implemented the OCOP Program, the Cooperative has gradually standardized the process to develop local advantageous products into OCOP products. The Cooperative has linked with farmers to produce 30 hectares of Van Dai rice using Japonica rice varieties according to the OCOP cycle.
Mr. Le Ba Dung, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of the Cooperative, said: “We organize the production of Van Dai rice from rice grown according to the organic RSI method; dried and processed on modern technological lines of affiliated enterprises. With outstanding quality and positive market reviews, we have chosen this as a key product for the Cooperative to build its brand and develop it into an OCOP product. In early 2023, Van Dai rice products achieved 3-star OCOP certification.”
It is known that thanks to compliance with production processes and standards, Van Dai rice has been successfully exported to the Japanese market by the cooperative in association with intermediary enterprises. Currently, with an output of 250 tons/crop not enough to meet market demand, the cooperative has been expanding the planting area, aiming to expand the planting area to neighboring communes.
Established in 2003, Quang Phu Agricultural Cooperative, Xuan Tin Commune, has developed a variety of industries, such as: irrigation, supply of agricultural production materials, environmental sanitation, tray plating and rice transplanting machines, and consumption of agricultural products for people. However, the Cooperative only became known to the market and consumers when it successfully developed Quang Phu cassava starch products. This is a 3-star OCOP product with raw materials from local advantageous crops. Since participating in the OCOP Program, the Cooperative has continuously expanded its scale, improved product quality, and diversified its consumption market. Director of the Cooperative Vu Van Vinh said: In addition to focusing on improving the quality and packaging design of products, the Cooperative also promotes product promotion and consumption. Recently, the Cooperative has signed contracts to supply products to many mini supermarkets in and outside the province. In addition, OCOP certification has also made it much easier for products to be consumed through online channels. Annual revenue of Quang Phu cassava starch products reaches nearly 2 billion VND.
Currently, the Cooperative has built a raw material production area of 5 hectares and linked with local households about 20 hectares to serve production. In addition, the Cooperative plans to continue investing in some more machinery and automatic packaging systems, standardize the production process and develop more showrooms to introduce products.
According to a quick survey by the Provincial Cooperative Union, many cooperatives have proactively applied technology to production, registered trademarks, built brands, and developed OCOP products to bring goods to the market, contributing to creating jobs and increasing income for members and workers. As of July 2025, the whole province has 134 cooperatives that have developed 159 OCOP products; of which, many OCOP products have been well received and highly appreciated by the market, such as: 4-star OCOP product Thang Long rice vermicelli of Thang Long rice vermicelli production service cooperative; fragrant sticky rice of Vinh Thinh agricultural service cooperative; Ha Lai leaf-shaped rice cake of Ha Lai agricultural service cooperative... Thanks to the development of OCOP products, cooperatives have created jobs, increased regular income for dozens of workers and linked to create seasonal jobs for hundreds of other workers in the locality.
Mr. Le Hong Hai, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Cooperative Union, said: After more than 6 years of coordinating the implementation of the OCOP Program, cooperatives have affirmed their role as the core force, taking the lead in building and improving the quality of key products of each locality, especially developing many quality products that are highly appreciated by the market. Through the development of OCOP products, not only the revenue and profit of cooperatives are increased, but the position, reputation and competitiveness of the cooperative itself are also affirmed on the collective economic map, the OCOP map of the whole country. Although the development of new OCOP products in cooperatives is necessary, the Provincial Cooperative Union always guides cooperatives to maintain and sustainably develop products that have achieved OCOP certification.
In the coming time, the Provincial Cooperative Union will continue to coordinate with departments, branches and sectors to create conditions for cooperatives to apply science and technology; participate in production linkages associated with product consumption; help cooperatives access support policies of the State. Continue to train and develop human resources for cooperatives; support cooperatives in digital transformation, developing digital agriculture, circular agriculture; organize practical learning of effective cooperative models in the provinces to exchange and share experiences...
