Brilliant "Vietnam - Colors from the Tropics" Festival on Red Square, Russian Federation

On the afternoon of July 25, 2025, in Moscow, the Russian Federation, the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Cultural Festival with the theme "Vietnam - Colors from the tropics" and a series of cultural diplomacy activities in Russia took place to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Russia diplomatic relations.

Attending the program, on the Vietnamese side were Ms. Ngo Phuong Ly, wife of General Secretary To Lam; Mr. Le Hai Binh, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Ngo Le Van, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs ; Mr. Dang Minh Khoi, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia.

On the Russian side, there were Mr. Andrey Yatskin, First Vice Chairman of the Federation Council of Russia; Ms. Natalia Sergunina, Deputy Mayor of Moscow; Mr. Andrey Malayshev, Deputy Minister of Culture of Russia; Mr. Gennady Bezdetko, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam. Also attending were Ambassadors of various countries to the Russian Federation, a large number of Russians and the Vietnamese community in Russia.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the festival, Ms. Ngo Phuong Ly affirmed that the establishment of Vietnam-Russia diplomatic relations 75 years ago not only opened a new chapter in the history of diplomacy between the two countries, but also demonstrated the solidarity, trust and sharing between the two peoples. Over three-quarters of a century, the historical imprints of Vietnam-Russia friendship have been deeply imprinted in the minds and hearts of many generations of people of the two countries.

Throughout the history of friendship, culture has always played a bridging role, closely connecting the Vietnamese and Russian people; the relationship between the two countries has been constantly strengthened through people-to-people exchanges and cooperation, from heart to heart, becoming a truly sustainable and profound relationship.

Sharing about the significance of the Festival, Madam Ngo Phuong Ly emphasized that the event, organized with the quintessence and typical cultural colors of Vietnam, is one of the vivid proofs of the close cultural cooperation between the two countries, an opportunity for the public, Russian people and international friends in Russia to experience the quintessence of Vietnamese culture, from traditional arts such as water puppetry, puppetry, folk music, to traditional silk products and ao dai, "com" cuisine , handicrafts and lacquer jewelry...

Speaking at the festival, First Vice Chairman of the Federation Council of Russia Andrey Yatskin affirmed that the major cultural event at the historical site of Moscow is a testament to the remarkable development of Vietnam-Russia relations, which the two sides agreed to further strengthen during the official visit to Russia by General Secretary To Lam in May 2025. The presence of Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly further affirms the friendship and important role of humanistic exchange in the cooperation between the two countries.

Deputy Mayor of Moscow Natalia Sergunina delivers welcoming speech

As the coordinating agency, Deputy Mayor of Moscow Natalia Sergunina was delighted that for the first time, the Vietnam Cultural Festival with a large scale of over 100 events was held in the Red Square area of Russia.

According to Ms. Natalia Sergunina, Vietnam is the 7th country with the largest number of tourists to the Russian Federation. Ms. Natalia Sergunina expects that after this Festival, along with further strengthening the friendship between the people of the two countries, the two-way exchange of tourists between Vietnam and Russia will have remarkable growth.

As Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Russia, in his speech at the Opening Ceremony, Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi emphasized that the Festival is a vivid symbol of sincere friendship and mutual understanding between the people of the two countries, giving Russian people the opportunity to learn more about Vietnam, a country with blue sea, white sand, golden sunshine, friendly, hard-working, friendly, hospitable people, and always welcoming Russian tourists.

Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi believes that with this cultural journey, the Russian public and people will feel more deeply the Vietnamese national soul, as well as the close bond and true friendship between the people of the two countries, thereby promoting the development of tourism, economy and trade between Vietnam and Russia.

The festival is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of Vietnam in the Russian Federation in coordination with the Moscow City Government in Moscow from July 25, 2025 to August 3, 2025 on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Russia diplomatic relations (1950-2025) to introduce and promote the country, people and culture of Vietnam.

Within the framework of the Festival, there will be daily performances of traditional music programs by the People's Public Security Music and Dance Theater, dry puppetry, and water puppetry by artists from the Vietnam Puppetry Theater with the theme "Tropical Sounds". For the first time, a water tank for Vietnamese water puppetry was built next to Red Square, emphasizing the national identity and quintessence of Vietnamese culture to the Russian public.

Along with that, the program introducing and displaying Vietnamese lacquer products "Vuon Son - Tropical Colors" of La Art Company brings a new perspective on Vietnamese lacquer, a place connecting Vietnamese culture and Russian culture, where tradition and modernity blend. The space of the photo exhibition "Vietnam, Country, People" of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists not only brings a face of Vietnam alongside the majestic and poetic natural landscape of mountains, caves, islands, terraced fields... but also moments of daily life of Vietnamese people.

Russian guests are especially interested in Vietnamese water puppetry.

Vietnamese silk products are introduced through the Ao Dai collection "Hanoi 12 Flower Seasons" by Designer Vu Viet Ha, creating a visual journey through each typical flower associated with the memories of Hanoi. In particular, the Festival introduces Vietnamese cuisine "The Flavor of Green Rice: The Quintessence of Hanoi, The Soul of the Red River" - a symbol of Hanoi's exquisite cuisine, not only a dish but also an art, the crystallization of agricultural life, urban breath and the affection of Hanoians for the land and sky.

The refined green rice products of People's Artisan Anh Tuyet such as fresh green rice, green rice sausage, green rice cake, green rice sweet soup... are introduced as a harmonious combination of traditional ingredients and the creativity of Hanoians, contributing to preserving and spreading a part of the quintessence of Vietnamese culinary culture.

In addition, the Festival has an interactive space for traditional Vietnamese musical instruments such as T'rung and K'Longput for visitors to see and experience. Notably, the Festival has community performances by Vietnamese students at professional art schools in Russia, along with individuals and organizations participating in the performance, interspersed with performances by artists from Vietnam. The Festival also has activities for the community with the theme "Homeland" such as interacting, learning and directly experiencing making to he, drawing Dong Ho paintings, getting acquainted with lacquer art and Vietnamese folk dances, bamboo dances, etc.

At the Opening Ceremony, Madam Ngo Phuong Ly directly shared and introduced to Russian guests the typical cultural features of Vietnam displayed at the Festival, creating an opportunity to spread the message of culture and friendship between the people of the two countries; promote and foster cultural and humanistic understanding between the people of the two countries; enhance the activities of introducing and promoting Vietnamese culture in Russia; demonstrate the importance of the depth of the friendly relations with Russia...

The Festival is held on Red Square, Moscow - a symbolic landmark of Russia, showing Russia's respect for Vietnamese culture, and the desire to bring Vietnamese culture closer to the Russian people. The series of events is also a bridge connecting the Vietnamese community in Russia with the Fatherland, contributing to arousing the spirit of national pride, civic responsibility and adding strength for the Vietnamese community to study, do business, live healthily and reap success in the land of birch trees.
