On the afternoon of December 8th, the flag-raising ceremony for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation and other delegations participating in the largest sporting event in Southeast Asia - the 33rd SEA Games - was held at the Hua Mark Indoor Stadium (Thailand).

The Vietnamese Sports Delegation participated in the flag-raising ceremony under the leadership of Head of Delegation Nguyen Hong Minh, along with delegation officials and athletes from the national swimming team. In order, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation's flag-raising ceremony was held near the end, before the host country Thailand's ceremony. A second flag-raising ceremony is scheduled to take place on December 11th at Wyndham Jomtien.

Speaking at the flag-raising ceremony, 18-year-old swimmer Trinh Truong Vinh said he felt very honored, moved, and proud to be part of the Vietnamese sports community at this momentous event.

"This is the first time I've attended the flag-raising ceremony. This honor further motivates me to perform better and contribute alongside my teammates to the overall success of Vietnamese sports," shared athlete Truong Vinh.

The flag-raising ceremony is not only a ritual marking the official presence of each delegation at the Congress, but also expresses the spirit of solidarity, friendship, and the aspiration to build a peaceful , stable, and sustainable ASEAN Community. It is a vivid symbol of the spirit of "One Vision - One Identity - One Community" that ASEAN has repeatedly affirmed in its joint statements.

For the Vietnamese Sports Delegation, the moment the national flag was raised in Bangkok was not only a source of national pride but also a commitment to continue working alongside ASEAN in promoting peace and friendship through sports.

Each athlete stepping out into the SEA Games not only represents the Vietnamese flag, but also serves as an ambassador for the spirit of national unity, contributing to spreading the spirit of solidarity throughout the region.

Speaking after the flag-raising ceremony, Head of Delegation Nguyen Hong Minh said that at this year's Games, many Vietnamese sports teams are undergoing a process of rejuvenating their forces and transitioning generations. Competing alongside the strongest athletes in the region will motivate young Vietnamese athletes to strive to develop their professional skills, gradually narrow the gap, and achieve success in more ambitious goals such as the ASIAD and the Olympics.

"Despite the many difficulties, each member of the delegation is aware of their contribution to the overall success of the congress," said delegation leader Nguyen Hong Minh.
