THE MATCH IS OVER!
The Philippines women's team defeated the Vietnam women's team 1-0.
The situation in Group B has become extremely close after two rounds of matches. Myanmar leads with 6 points, while Vietnam and the Philippines are behind with 3 points each. In the final match, Vietnam must win against Myanmar to secure qualification. The Philippines have an advantage as they will face the weakest opponent in the group, Malaysia, in the final round.
The Vietnamese women's team affirmed their strength as the reigning champions.
In the first round, the Vietnamese women's team easily defeated Malaysia 7-0, while the Philippines unexpectedly lost 1-2 to Myanmar. Therefore, the clash between the Vietnamese and Philippine women's teams promises to be intense. Coach Mai Duc Chung's team will advance to the semi-finals early if they secure all three points, while the Philippines cannot afford to lose if they want to keep their chances of progressing alive.

Having suffered a 1-2 defeat against the Philippines women's team at the 32nd SEA Games, coach Mai Duc Chung shared: "The Philippines team will certainly increase the pace of the game, using physical strength to overwhelm and send many high balls into the 16.5-meter area. That's their strength, so the coaching staff always reminds the defenders and midfielders to tightly mark their attacking threats and not give them much space to make deep passes into the middle."
During preparations for the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnamese women's team meticulously practiced drills to counter the playing style of the Philippine team. Defender Luong Thi Thu Thuong stated: "The Philippine players are very tall and strong, and good at heading, so my teammates and I tried to minimize their attacking power, while also closely marking them and strictly adhering to the coach's tactics."
The Vietnamese women's team will secure a place in the semi-finals if they defeat the Philippines in their second match of Group B, which takes place today.

While coach Mai Duc Chung gave opportunities to several young players in the opening match against Malaysia, considered the weakest team in Group B, it is highly likely that the "elite" players of the Vietnamese women's football team will be on the field in the crucial match against the Philippines. Thai Thi Thao and her teammates are expected to secure a convincing victory against the Philippines to affirm the strength of the defending champions.
