Malaysian female player leaves the field in tears after receiving a red card - Video:FPT PLAY
On the afternoon of December 8, the Malaysian women's football team suffered a 0-3 defeat to Myanmar in Group B of the 33rd SEA Games women's football event.
Although the result was not unexpected, the highlight of the match came from the brawls and the red card of female player Adrienna.
In the 23rd minute of the match, she rushed to protect her teammate after witnessing a Myanmar player misbehaving after a previous collision. Adrienna's action of pushing her opponent caused a small brawl, making the match tense.
Tempers reached a boiling point in the 56th minute when Adrienna "retaliated" against player number 2 - Myint after a somewhat tricky blocking of the ball. The argument immediately broke out, causing the match to be temporarily interrupted.
The referee then decided to show a second yellow card, which was equivalent to a red card for Adrienna, forcing the Malaysian women's team to play with one less player.
With only 10 players left on the field, the Malaysian women's team could not find a goal to shorten the score and accepted a 0-3 defeat against the Myanmar women's team.
