(NLDO) - The flag-raising ceremony of the sports delegations participating in the 33rd SEA Games was solemnly held on the afternoon of December 8 at Hua Mark Stadium Square in Bangkok, Thailand.

At exactly 3:25 p.m. on December 8, the Vietnamese national flag flew in the sky above Hua Mark Indoor Stadium Square along with the flags of 10 Southeast Asian countries at the flag-raising ceremony. The Vietnamese national flag appeared near the end of the ceremony, right before the flag-raising ceremony of the host country, Thailand.

According to the tradition at major regional, continental and world sports events, the flag-raising ceremony is held to acknowledge the presence of participating countries and welcome sports delegations to the games, encouraging the competitive spirit of athletes. The Vietnamese sports delegation attending the flag-raising ceremony includes all delegation officials, except doctors accompanying the teams, along with 22 swimming athletes.

The flag-raising ceremony ended with the presence of the host sports delegation of Thailand.

Vietnam participated in the 33rd SEA Games with 1,165 members, including 191 coaches; 841 athletes competing in 47 sports and disciplines. The Vietnamese Sports Delegation set a target of striving to win 91 to 110 gold medals, aiming to maintain its position among the leading groups in Southeast Asia.
