Speaking to Dan Tri reporter , the leader of Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) said that the company is urgently completing the air traffic control facility at Long Thanh airport ( Dong Nai ) to welcome the technical flight landing on December 15.
According to the plan, the flight on December 15 will use a code E aircraft (a large aircraft equivalent to B787, A350...). This will be the first civil aviation flight to land at Long Thanh airport.

According to the VATM leader, the December 15 flight is important in the final assessment of preparations for the official flight. On December 19, the official flight landing at Long Thanh airport could be a special flight serving the leaders.
From December 8 to December 10, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam will inspect and license VATM’s flight operations facility at Long Thanh airport. By December 15, the crew at Long Thanh air traffic control tower will be ready to serve the first flight.
Currently, the progress of implementing the Long Thanh airport air traffic control tower (component 2 project invested by VATM) is facing obstacles due to waiting for technical tunnels and power cable infrastructure connecting from component 3 project. VATM will mobilize generators to operate the air traffic control tower during the upcoming flight.

Previously, Air Traffic Management Engineering Company Limited (ATTECH) completed the calibration flight procedure at Long Thanh airport on October 30. The flight crew concluded that the air traffic control equipment at the airport all met or exceeded international standards.
However, during the calibration flight, the aircraft did not take off or land on the runway of Long Thanh airport. Therefore, the flight on December 15 will be the first landing at the airport.
Following the Prime Minister ’s direction and the investor’s commitment, the Long Thanh airport project will basically complete the construction and ensure it can receive flights on December 19. The remaining items will continue to be completed, tested and put into commercial operation in mid-2026.
