(Dan Tri) - Right after the bitter 0-1 loss to the Philippines women's team, coach Mai Duc Chung expressed his opinion that the referee had blown many whistles, causing unexpected benefits for the Vietnamese women's team.

After the match, coach Mai Duc Chung said: “The match should have ended in a draw. I think a draw is a fair result for both teams. I observed that there were many situations where the referee blew the whistle, causing disadvantages for the Vietnamese women's team. Blowing the whistle like this made our players feel frustrated.”

“With such a depressed mentality, we conceded a goal in the extra time of the match. I take responsibility for this defeat of the Vietnamese women’s team, my students are not at fault. The Philippine women’s team played nothing special in terms of tactics. They mainly used high balls.

They just tried to take advantage of their tall physique to make it difficult for the Vietnamese female players in the high balls,” coach Mai Duc Chung added.

The loss to the Philippines put the Vietnamese women's football team in a situation where they had to beat Myanmar in the final match of the group stage to have any hope of reaching the semi-finals.

Despite being in a disadvantageous situation, coach Mai Duc Chung still expressed confidence: “I believe that the Vietnamese women's team still has a chance to continue if we win against Myanmar. I am confident that we will win against Myanmar.”

Myanmar temporarily leads Group B with 6 points after two matches. The Vietnamese women's team temporarily ranks 3rd in this group. Coach Mai Duc Chung's team has the same 3 points as the Philippines, but we are ranked below our opponent because of the inferior head-to-head results.
