Real Madrid have confirmed Eder Militao will be out for four months after tests revealed a torn biceps femoris muscle in his left thigh and damage to a tendon near his hip. Even in the most optimistic scenario, the defender could only return half a month earlier. This means Real will be without Militao for almost the entire remainder of the season, from the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup to the start of the Champions League.

The injury occurred in the first half of the match against Celta Vigo in the 15th round of La Liga on December 8th. Militao rushed to stop Pablo Duran's sprint, but suddenly clutched his left thigh and fell to the ground in pain. Vinicius immediately signaled for Militao to be substituted. The subsequent MRI scan only brought bad news, just as the medical team had feared.
