The My Son World Cultural Heritage Management Board said it is conducting 3D scanning of the entire system of temples, towers, and architectural ruins and selecting 200 typical artifacts to digitize from now until the end of 2025.

This technology allows for accurate recording of the structure, materials, dimensions and level of damage of each building, creating a data foundation for restoration when necessary.

My Son currently has 60 ruins, three architectural vestiges and more than 2,200 artifacts. Over the decades, wars, natural disasters and natural erosion have partially destroyed many ancient towers and seriously degraded some treasures.

3D scanning helps to preserve the most authentic state of the relic, and at the same time create a complete 3D model based on the scanned data, replacing the old, inconsistent document system.

Collected data will be stored on a separate server system with strong configuration, optimized for management and sharing.

The My Son World Cultural Heritage Management Board also plans to integrate 3D models onto its website platform to enhance the digital experience for visitors, opening up a new approach to the Cham art treasure.

Over the years, My Son has been one of the pioneers in applying digital technology in the inventory and storage of Cham artifacts.

Since 2003, the unit has been numbering, inventorying artifacts and entering data into specialized software. Many archaeological artifacts have also been described, photocopied, 3D scanned and stored since 2006.

Some temple architecture has been digitized through international funding projects, especially in 2018 with the support of Italian and Indian experts, more than 1,000 artifacts in tower groups G, K and H were digitized, coded and scientifically stored.

In addition to digitizing artifacts and relics, the My Son World Cultural Heritage Management Board is also deploying an AI camera system to monitor the relic, and installing an IP audio system at the tower clusters and main sightseeing routes. This system will provide automatic information about the relic, support the dissemination of regulations and contribute to raising community awareness in preserving the heritage.

Along with conservation, many digital technology applications are also being developed to promote the value of My Son to tourists, continuing to affirm the unit's pioneering role in digital transformation in the heritage sector.
