Vietnamese cuisine unexpectedly surpasses Thailand, rising to 16th place in the world

(Dan Tri) - In the list of the world's top 100 cuisines announced by Taste Atlas, Vietnam unexpectedly surpassed Thailand, ranking 16th.

Recently, the world- famous culinary guide Taste Atlas published a list of the 100 best cuisines in the world. The list immediately attracted the attention of food lovers.

With a score of 4.36, Vietnamese cuisine unexpectedly surpassed many world cuisines such as Korea and Thailand to rank 16th in the world.

Meanwhile, in Southeast Asia, Indonesian cuisine ranked 10th with 4.48 points. Next were Vietnam (16th); Thailand (24th), Philippines (25th), Malaysia (29th), Singapore (90th) and Laos (96th).

It is known that to have this ranking, Taste Atlas is based on 590,228 valid reviews for 16,357 dishes in the platform's database. The above cuisines all achieved the highest average score.

Commenting on Vietnamese cuisine, experts say there are many attractive dishes for diners to try such as beef dipped in vinegar, bread, La Vong fish cakes, Quang noodles, braised pork...

Not long ago, the culinary website Taste Atlas also evaluated 4 Vietnamese beef dishes that showed the richness in the way of preparation, surprising diners. These are beef stew, beef dipped in vinegar, beef luc luc and beef ne.

Similarly, in 2022, Vietnamese cuisine was also praised by many international chefs and prestigious culinary magazines. The Canadian magazine The Travel commented that Vietnamese food is attractive because of the diversity of many types of food. The rich, delicious and creative preparation methods are what confuse tourists when they have to choose.

Previously, TF1 is one of the largest and oldest French television channels that has broadcast programs about the success of world cuisines in France for over 10 years. Among them, Vietnamese dishes were voted as one of the 3 most favorite dishes of the French.

According to TF1 , it is the traditional fried spring rolls that are on the list of foreign dishes voted by French consumers. In addition, the French also like American peanut butter and Japanese sushi.

It is known that this is not the first time Taste Atlas has written an article commenting on dishes in Vietnamese cuisine. Previously, on February 15, this site voted for vinegar-dipped beef to be among the 50 best dishes in Southeast Asia in 2023.

According to this site, the rankings are based on user evaluation criteria with the purpose of promoting local dishes and should not be considered the sole conclusion about the dishes.

Taste Atlas currently connects with 9,000 restaurants around the world, sharing more than 10,000 dishes with global readers. These are the evaluation results from research by experts and world chefs.
