At 6:30 p.m. today (December 8), the Vietnamese women's team will face the Philippines in the second match of Group B of the 33rd SEA Games women's football.
The most surprising addition to the squad was goalkeeper Kim Thanh. She had suffered an injury during training before the opening match against Malaysia. The 1993-born goalkeeper did not collide with anyone but felt pain, forcing the medical team to intervene immediately.
According to the initial diagnosis of the doctors, Kim Thanh suffered from pain in the back of her left thigh. Kim Thanh has returned to light training but still cannot catch the ball so she will not be playing in the match against Malaysia.
Being present from the beginning today was a big surprise from coach Mai Duc Chung for the opponent Philippines.
Guarding Kim Thanh's goal are three central defenders: Hai Linh, Diem My and Kim Yen.
On the wing are Thanh Nha and Thi Duyen. Both will certainly have a hard time against the tall defenders of the opponent. Thai Thao and Van Su are the two names in the midfield.
The attacking trio of the Vietnamese women's team are Truc Huong and Bich Thuy supporting striker Hai Yen.
Coach Mai Duc Chung's team is determined to win to secure a ticket to the semi-finals.
The Philippines also need a win to keep their hopes of advancing alive. In their opening match, they lost 1-2 to Myanmar.
