Hue aims to welcome 7-7.5 million tourists in 2026.

On the morning of December 8th, the 11th session of the 8th Hue City People's Council, term 2021-2026, opened. The session focused on evaluating the socio-economic development results of 2025 and deciding on key objectives and solutions for 2026. Hue aims to attract 7 to 7.5 million tourists in 2026.

Speaking at the session, Mr. Le Truong Luu, Chairman of the Hue City People's Council, said that 2025 was a challenging year as prolonged natural disasters and floods seriously affected production and people's lives. However, with the decisive direction of the Central Government, the efforts of the entire political system, and the consensus of the people, the city still achieved many important results in various fields.

By 2025, Hue City is expected to achieve and surpass 13 out of 14 socio -economic targets, clearly demonstrating the dynamism of the local economy. GRDP is estimated to increase by 9%, higher than the national average; total budget revenue is estimated at 11,800 billion VND, an increase of over 20% compared to the same period; total social investment capital is expected to reach approximately 40,000 billion VND... Notably, the city is also among the Top 5 localities with the highest Innovation Index nationwide, affirming strong progress in reform and digital transformation.

Besides the positive results, the Hue City People's Council also pointed out shortcomings that need to be addressed, such as slow disbursement progress for some projects, difficulties in compensation and land clearance, inadequacies in the operation of the two-tiered urban government model, and the progress of national target programs not meeting requirements.

According to Mr. Nguyen Khac Toan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hue City, in 2026, Hue will focus on key programs to create new growth drivers, prioritizing infrastructure development, urban beautification, digital transformation, tourism stimulus, and enhancing competitiveness.

“We will strongly mobilize resources to develop tourism and services to become a key economic sector, striving to welcome 7-7.5 million visitors. Total tourism revenue will be approximately 15 trillion VND. We will strengthen regional linkages, expand international markets, develop more direct flights and increase the frequency of domestic flights, develop advantageous service industries, and research the formation of the Chan May-Lang Co Free Trade Zone...”.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Trung, Secretary of the Hue City Party Committee, requested that the City People's Council delegates review all targets for 2025, especially those that are behind schedule or have not been achieved, and propose decisive solutions from the beginning of 2026 to avoid any "gaps in leadership," clearly defining collective and individual responsibilities in the implementation of tasks: “Delegates need to focus on discussing and analyzing the achievements and limitations, difficulties, and obstacles in the process of implementing the resolutions of the City People's Council. At the same time, review all targets for 2025, especially those that are behind schedule or have not been achieved, in order to make correct decisions and propose decisive and timely solutions from the very first day and month of 2026; clearly define collective responsibility and the responsibility of the head of each unit in implementing the goals and targets…”.
