SEA Games 33: Opening ceremony promises to create something 'unprecedented'

According to a VNA correspondent in Bangkok, Thai Minister of Tourism and Sports Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn said he believes Thailand will host a spectacular opening ceremony for the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33) on December 9, affirming that the ceremony will convey a clear message to sports fans across the region, while reflecting the ambition of the Organizing Committee in creating something “unprecedented” in Thailand.

Speaking after inspecting the International Broadcasting Centre (IBC) on December 7, Minister Atthakorn confirmed that the venue was fully prepared and equipped with modern facilities. He noted that Thailand will broadcast more sports than any previous SEA Games – more than 31 – and that foreign media were pleased with the convenience, technology and professional coordination provided at the IBC. He added that the IBC could serve as a new benchmark for future host countries, reflecting Thailand’s progress in many aspects.

Regarding the opening ceremony, the Thai Minister of Tourism and Sports said that the program will have unique performances and technical elements designed specifically for this Games. The ceremony will bring together actors, singers and athletes - past, present and rising stars who have brought pride to Thailand, promising to be a memorable gift for sports fans.

Regarding the message that Thailand hopes to send to ASEAN through the opening ceremony, Mr. Atthakorn said the opening ceremony will demonstrate Thailand's happiness, readiness and geographical centrality.
