The clearest chance came in the 11th minute, when the Philippines defense made a mistake and lost the ball right in the penalty area, but Bich Thuy's final shot was too weak.
In contrast, the Philippines showed danger from direct attacks. In the 14th minute, Pino escaped to face goalkeeper Kim Thanh, but his shot went over the crossbar, making Vietnam scared. The Philippines continued to show their superiority in physical situations in aerial combat (minute 33), but the Vietnamese defense still maintained their concentration. The first half ended in a 0-0 draw.
In the second half, the pace of the match was pushed up. In the 55th minute, the Vietnamese women's team had a golden opportunity to open the score when Bich Thuy calmly dribbled past the Philippine goalkeeper, but her final shot was blocked by the opposing defender right on the goal line.
After that, the Vietnamese women's team continuously raised their formation and attacked fiercely (minute 75), focusing on speed from both sides and then crossing the ball inside. However, the tall physique and the dedication of the Philippine defense prevented the Vietnamese strikers from finding a comfortable space to finish.
The drama happened in the final minutes of extra time. In the 90+4 minute, the Philippines organized an attack and launched a shot. Although goalkeeper Kim Thanh excellently blocked the first shot, Louise promptly rushed in to finish close to the goal, scoring a goal for the Vietnamese women's team. This cruel goal sealed a 1-0 victory for the Philippines.
This unfortunate 0-1 defeat caused the Vietnamese women's team to drop to second place in Group B with 3 points. In the final match on December 11, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team were put in a situation where they had to beat Myanmar (6 points) to secure a place in the next round. Because in the match at the same time, the Philippines (3 points) would almost certainly win all 3 points against the weakest opponent in the group, Malaysia (0 points).
