Chu Dang Ya volcano in Bien Ho commune, Gia Lai province, is one of the most unique ancient craters in Vietnam. According to geologists, this volcano was active millions of years ago, leaving a large funnel and fertile basalt soil spreading across the mountainside.
Today, Chu Dang Ya has stopped erupting. This "sleep" has created a peaceful and attractive natural landscape.
During the dry season, especially November, the mountainside is dyed a brilliant yellow by wild sunflowers, a typical flower of the Central Highlands, turning this place into an attractive destination for tourists and photographers.
Not only possessing beautiful scenery, Chu Dang Ya also has deep cultural value. The mountain is a sacred symbol for the indigenous Jrai people, associated with many legends and traditional folk festivals.
With the combination of unique geology, rich nature and unique indigenous culture, Chu Dang Ya is gradually affirming its position as one of the must-see destinations of Gia Lai tourism , promising to bring unforgettable experiences to visitors.

Regarding this scenic spot, recently Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, had a working session with the authorities on researching and proposing a planning plan for Bien Ho - Chu Dang Ya Tourist Area.
The Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee assessed that Bien Ho - Chu Dang Ya Tourist Area is a unique geological and landscape resource of Gia Lai province, with special natural and cultural value.
Provincial leaders assigned the Department of Construction to coordinate with relevant agencies to urgently implement the planning of the tourist area here, to be completed in October 2025.
Mr. Pham Anh Tuan requested that the planning of Bien Ho - Chu Dang Ya tourist area needs to be carried out systematically and in-depth, ensuring harmony between the factors of preserving cultural heritage, natural landscape and sustainable tourism development. There must be a synchronous and long-term development orientation, attracting a large number of people and tourists.
