On the morning of October 25th, Papapa Pai Kan Tue, a Thai tourist, and three friends traveled by ride-hailing taxi from Saigon Centre shopping mall (Saigon Ward) to a nearby banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich) shop. Throughout the journey, the group chatted lively and captured some moments of their exploration of Ho Chi Minh City.
As soon as she got out of the car, Kan Tue intended to film herself buying bread when she discovered her iPhone 13 Pro was missing from her pocket. Reviewing the video she recorded before getting into the car, her friend saw that Kan Tue was still holding the phone.
"Thanks to that, we're sure I left it behind, not dropped it. I don't even remember when I put it down," Kan Tue told Tri Thức - Znews .
Kan Tue immediately messaged the driver via the app. Luckily, the conversation was saved even after the trip had ended.
While waiting for a response, she tried calling customer support but couldn't connect because her SIM card was registered for international roaming. She even asked people nearby to call for her, but the call still went through.
"Anyway, I'm really grateful that everyone tried to help at that time," Kan Tue shared.
Shortly afterward, the support center sent her a notification asking if she needed help and providing instructions on how to file a lost and found report. She immediately followed the instructions.
At the same time, the driver kept texting to say he had found the phone and was returning to the drop-off point. Just 5-15 minutes later, he appeared and handed the phone to the Thai girl, much to her relief.
"Meeting such a kind person really made our whole day wonderful," she said.

The driver refused to accept the money when he returned the phone to Kan Tue. |
This was Kan Tue's first time in Vietnam, and she felt very welcome. "I visited Vietnam from October 24-26. I told my friend that I would definitely come back because I love Vietnam, I love Ho Chi Minh City," she confided.
After getting her phone back, Kan Tue posted the video on social media to tell her story. She said that sharing it was simply a way to spread positivity.
"Many people misunderstand my story. I want to show people that Vietnam is kind, safe, and full of warm-hearted people. If you look at my account, you'll see that I post a lot of good things about Vietnam, from food and places to people," she added.
