In episode 144 of Vietnamese Family Home, the situation of Thanh Truc - a 13-year-old orphan who cannot feel the love of her parents and depends on her grandmother moved the artists to tears.
Truong Thi Thanh Truc (2012), is currently an 8th grade student at Phu Dong Secondary School. Truc is living with her grandmother - Mrs. Ngo Thi Tuc (1963) in Duy Xuyen commune, Da Nang city (formerly Quang Nam province). From the time she was born until now, Mrs. Tuc is the only relative who has raised and taken care of her.
Thanh Truc's life was a long series of days lacking family affection. Her father passed away when she was still in her mother's womb. When she was only 6 months old, her mother left for another country, never once returning to see her face. Growing up, Truc never saw her parents' faces, nor felt the warmth of a complete family.
When I'm sad, I just sit alone in a corner, quietly looking at my father's picture. As for my mother, until now I still don't know her face, nor do I have a picture to describe her. What Truc fears most is that one day, if my mother stood right in front of me, I wouldn't be able to recognize her.
For Mrs. Ngo Thi Tuc, after her son passed away and her daughter-in-law left home, she became the sole support for her little grandchild. Over the years, she has been both a father and a mother, raising Truc to adulthood. In Truc's eyes, her grandmother is the whole world , the only person she can trust and rely on.
To earn money for living, Mrs. Tuc cultivates a small field of her family's land to earn rice to eat. In addition, she collects scrap metal, and if anyone is kind enough, she gives them some, saving every penny to take care of her grandchildren.
Her health was getting worse. She suffered from nervous disorders and asthma, and often had headaches and dizziness. On days when the weather changed, she was prone to fainting. However, she tried not to rest too much because she was worried about her grandchild.
Seeing her grandmother working hard, Truc could not help but feel sorry. She always tried to study well and help her grandmother after school. During the holidays, she often followed her grandmother to collect scrap metal, hoping to share some of the burden on her grandmother's thin shoulders.
The house where Truc and her grandmother live is an old ancestral house, built a long time ago and now seriously degraded. On stormy days, the roof is at risk of collapsing, forcing the grandmother and her grandmother to temporarily live in the small kitchen in the back – a place that is hot, humid and cramped.
Witnessing her grandmother's silent sacrifice, Truc quietly wrote a letter and personally registered to participate in the Vietnamese Family Shelter program with the hope that the lives of the grandmother and grandchild would have the opportunity to turn a new page.
As a girl who loves sports , Truc believes that only studying and practicing can help her change her fate. She always tries hard in her studies, nurturing her dream of becoming an athletics coach in the future. She also longs for a full home, with parents by her side to love and care for her every day. However, every time someone asks about her wish, Truc just stays silent, sheds tears and quietly wipes them away.
The unfortunate fate of Truong Thi Thanh Truc made the artists participating in the program Vietnamese Family Home choke up. MC Dai Nghia was moved and choked up when he learned that Truc was the one who personally sent the registration letter to participate in the program.
“Truc keeps a very calm face of a 13-year-old girl, in such a difficult situation. Perhaps what she has experienced has gradually made her callous, forcing herself to be strong. Sometimes, we often ask Truc, 'why did you leave me?' - but that is not a question, but an exclamation. Maybe her mother is seriously ill, or had an accident and had to leave. But for Truc, that question makes adults like us feel heartbroken. Her mother left when she was only 6 months old, and what Truc fears most is that one day, mother and daughter will pass each other on the street without recognizing each other" , MC Dai Nghia shared, holding back tears.
Actor Ma Ran Do could not hide his emotions when he saw Mrs. Tuc burst into tears and hug her granddaughter tightly in a situation where she had no one to rely on. The image of the two of them living alone for many years, worrying about their health and the fear that their granddaughter would be alone when he passed away made the actor feel troubled.
Singer Nguyen Duyen Quynh expressed her sorrow at Mrs. Tuc’s silent sacrifices. She admired the determination of a woman who had to go through the pain of “the old man seeing off the young man”, and had not yet recovered from it but continued to raise her orphaned granddaughter. Duyen Quynh sent words of encouragement to Truc to continue to study hard and told Mrs. Tuc to try to take care of her health to always be a solid support for her granddaughter.
In addition to sharing and encouraging the characters, the artists also contributed to the challenges, helping the children bring home valuable prizes from Hoa Sen Group. Accordingly, Le Thi Quynh Nhu's family came in third place, receiving a prize of 18 million VND. Ngo Hong Bao Han's family came in second place, receiving a prize of 23 million VND. Truong Thi Thanh Truc's family came in first place, completing the special challenge and bringing home 60 million VND. Thus, the total prize money from Hoa Sen Group given to the characters this week is 101 million VND.
In addition, many local people donated, many benefactors also prepared cash envelopes, hand-delivered to each family in difficult circumstances. The total amount of cash donated at the studio during the recording session was up to more than 176 million VND - a meaningful number showing the kindness and positive spread of the Vietnamese Family Warmth program.
Along with the community's affection, MC Dai Nghia sent each family 5 million VND. Actor Ma Ran Do also used his own money to send each family 5 million VND. Choking up and sympathizing with the children, singer Nguyen Duyen Quynh sent each family 10 million VND, hoping to give more motivation for the children to overcome difficulties. Although not participating in the program, singer Duc Phuc also sent each family of second and third place 10 million VND.
The program Vietnamese Family Warmth airs at 8:20 p.m. every Friday on HTV7. The program is produced by Bee Media Company in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City Television, with the support of Hoa Sen Home Construction Materials & Interior Supermarket System (Hoa Sen Group) and Hoa Sen Plastic Pipe - Source of Happiness.
