The Vietnam Tourism Awards is a prestigious award organized annually by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. This year, the awards were presented on World Tourism Day, September 27, with the message of responding to the transformation of sustainable tourism launched by the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism).

The event aims to honor destinations, businesses and organizations that have made positive contributions to the development of Vietnam tourism, helping to affirm the position and role of the tourism industry in the national economy .

Thanh Ha Pottery Village (Hoi An Tay Ward) is the only destination in the Central region to be honored in the category of "Best Community Tourism Destination".

According to Ms. Truong Thi Ngoc Cam, Deputy Director of Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Conservation Center, Thanh Ha pottery village being honored in the category of “Best Community Tourism Destination” is not only the pride of the craft village itself but also demonstrates the right direction in developing craft village tourism associated with the community. This is also a driving force to promote sustainable tourism activities, associated with the preservation of traditional cultural values, the active participation of the community, as well as the creativity of local people.

Previously, at the end of 2024, Tra Que Community Tourism Village (also in Hoi An Tay ward) was honored by UN Tourism as one of the "Best tourist villages in the world in 2024".

There are many strict standards for Tra Que to be recognized, previously only 2 other villages in Vietnam were honored with this title by UN Tourism.

More importantly, joining the network of the best tourist villages will help Tra Que have more references to continue to improve and develop sustainably according to world standards.

Recently, Cam Thanh village (Hoi An Dong ward) was ranked by Forbes magazine as one of the top 50 most beautiful villages in the world (The World's 50 Most Beautiful Villages 2025). Notably, this is the only village in Vietnam on the list.

Before 2010, Cam Thanh was a purely agricultural countryside, people's lives faced many difficulties.

With policies supporting community tourism and the creativity of local people in developing tourism products, this area has become an attractive destination, welcoming nearly 1 million tourists each year.

According to the assessment of the leaders of UN Tourism and the suggestion of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Cam Thanh village possesses many conditions to join the world's best tourism village network in the future in the direction of a fishing village with production and tourism activities associated with rivers.

It can be said that the community villages along the ancient town of Hoi An are the most effective areas for community tourism in Da Nang city. Being honored at national and international awards is a great motivation for these community villages to continue to innovate their products and increase their revenue from tourism. From there, they will have more resources to reinvest in preserving traditional cultural values and developing sustainable craft villages.
