More than 3,600 reams of notebooks and 200 million VND to support students and people in the flood-hit South Central region

Students of Nhon Binh Primary School No. 2, Quy Nhon Dong Ward ( Gia Lai ) were given notebooks and are ready to return to school after the flood.

The program awarded more than 1,000 reams of notebooks to all primary school students in Quy Nhon Dong and Quy Nhon Tay wards (Gia Lai); 2,584 reams of notebooks to students of 6 primary schools in Dong Hoa ward of Dak Lak (formerly Phu Yen ). Thereby helping the children to fully prepare learning materials and return to school soon after the natural disaster.

These are the localities that were heavily flooded during the recent floods, in some places the water rose nearly 2 meters high, sweeping away the property and books of many students' families.

In total, the Community Fund for Natural Disaster Prevention donated 3,607 reams of notebooks in the first phase. Notably, more than 2,500 reams of notebooks were given away by primary schools in Nong Son commune ( Da Nang ) after receiving them from the Fund, demonstrating the spirit of sharing with students in provinces that suffered more severe damage.

Along with the notebook handover, the program also awarded 200 million VND to support 200 households that suffered heavy losses in An Tho village, Tuy An Bac commune (Dak Lak) and Hoa Tri commune (Khanh Hoa). In these two localities, the flood exceeded the historical level of 2009 by 1.1m, causing most of the property, rice and livestock to be swept away or submerged in water.

The program "Back to school early after the flood" will continue to be implemented in many localities affected by natural disasters, contributing to helping students and people soon stabilize their lives.

The Community Fund for Natural Disaster Prevention is a social and charitable fund founded in 2008 under the initiative and advocacy of Mr. Phan Dien, former member of the Politburo, former Standing Member of the Secretariat, former Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee.

The Fund mobilizes social resources to support people in many localities to proactively prevent and minimize damage caused by natural disasters through community works, equipment, skills training and emergency relief programs after storms and floods.
