During the low tourist season, a coffee shop in Xuan Huong ward (Lam Dong) saw a 300% increase in customers because the owner dressed up and imitated TVB's voice to tease customers.

A coffee shop located next to Tuyen Lam Lake (Xuan Huong Ward, old Da Lat City) has attracted a nearly 300% increase in customers. The reason comes from a series of videos of the shop owner dressed in ancient costumes, speaking in a TVB accent (a voiceover characteristic of Hong Kong movies) and interacting spontaneously with customers.

Opened in 2017, owner Kim Huong is used to chatting and joking with customers when checking the premises.

The idea of dressing up came from a previous costume rental service for taking photos. Huong re-dressed for fun, unexpectedly it suited the atmosphere of the shop, and from there created a few more situations to try to interact with customers.

The videos were posted in mid-October and quickly went viral. Huong admitted that she was initially hesitant because she was afraid of "overreacting", but the positive reactions from customers surprised her.

"I didn't think much, just simply chatting with customers but the effect was beyond imagination," the owner shared with Tri Thuc - Znews.

Every morning when she comes to the shop, Huong chooses her own outfit, puts on makeup, does her hair and mentally prepares herself to "get into character". What surprises visitors is Huong's ability to imitate voices completely by instinct. Each conversation is improvised, without a script.
"I never went to school, nor did I watch clips to learn from any actors. When I was young, I watched Hong Kong movies like Stephen Chow's, but very little," Huong said.

Every day, Kim Huong wears a period costume and imitates a TVB voice to chat and entertain guests.

In addition to her TVB accent, she can also switch between Northern, Central and Southern accents and imitate the voices of some artists such as Xuan Hinh, Hong Van... Sometimes she gets confused because she has to speak more than ten different accents in a day.

In addition, Kim Huong also attracted attention by her fluent Chinese conversation with Chinese guests. She said she taught herself Chinese and is learning Korean in the evening.

"My voice is pretty bad and I just talk nonsense, I didn't think it would entertain people so much. There was a saying that I accidentally said but customers liked it," Huong said.

Although it was just an impromptu act, the viral effect of these videos was beyond imagination. While Da Lat was affected by heavy rains causing landslides, the number of visitors generally decreased, this coffee shop witnessed unusual growth.

"Compared to the same period last year, the number of customers increased by nearly 300%. There were days when we couldn't serve all the customers," Huong said, expressing her gratitude.

The cafe is located next to Tuyen Lam Lake, decorated with many fresh flowers and natural materials.

The sudden fame brought great joy, but also put Kim Huong under a lot of pressure. Many customers came to the shop not only to drink coffee but also to meet the "TVB boss".

"There are days when I'm too shy to come out, especially when customers call me 'idol'. I don't dare to admit that I'm an idol. Only when someone calls me 'big sister', 'little sister' or 'aunt' do I dare to come out," Huong said.

There was a time when Huong was recognized on the street, to the point that she was "frozen". Besides the joy, she was also worried because she was afraid she wouldn't be able to serve all the customers, and that she might say something that offended someone.

Huong said the makeup was not for media purposes. "I'm not good at marketing, nor do I hire a media team. I just want visitors to have a relaxing moment. When traveling, everyone needs joy."

Huong just hopes that customers leave with a little laugh and remember that in Da Lat there is a small shop that gives them positive energy - as her way of thanking them for not minding the long journey to visit.
