My Son Sanctuary is a famous heritage of Quang Nam with an architectural complex of many extremely unique Champa temples. The relic site was discovered in 1885 and was recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage in 1995.

My Son Sanctuary with more than 70 temples carved elaborately and meticulously with many important inscriptions in Sanskrit and Cham. This relic was forgotten until 1898, a Frenchman and his colleagues discovered the relic hidden in the forest, in the heart of the surrounding valley protected by 2 majestic mountains.

The sanctuary has a main tower (Kalan) and many small subsidiary towers surrounding it. The towers are all pyramid-shaped, symbolizing the peak. The temples in My Son are built of red bricks, without lime coating, and there is no mortar between the bricks. The temples are all quadrilateral in shape.

The roof of the tower is structured in many overlapping towers, solid on top and hollow on the bottom, gradually getting smaller as it goes up, creating a soaring shape. The exterior of the towers has lines and curves depicting human figures, animals, plants, flowers and leaves in many different shapes, very lively and flexible.

The main temples at My Son worship a set of Linga or images of the god Siva - the protector of the Champa kings. The god worshiped at My Son is Bhadravarman, the king who founded the first kingly line of the Amaravati region in the 4th century combined with the name of the god Siva, becoming the main belief in worshiping the god - king and royal ancestors.

My Son relics are divided into 4 areas. Area A is where visitors can see the entire temple complex. Most of the structures in this area are under restoration. Area B is home to 1 main tower and 3 sub-towers.

This area is located on the western hill. Area C gathers many temples, towers, inscriptions, reliefs, and the most impressive and unique sculptures in My Son Sanctuary. Area C is located on the southern hill and is a place that tourists should definitely not miss when visiting this relic complex.

During the process of uncovering and restoring, hundreds of valuable artifacts were discovered, many of which were discovered for the first time in My Son.

Among them is the stone statue of a god in tower A, the relief inside tower A13 is quite different from the architectural works carved inside the tower of Champa architecture.

My Son Sanctuary is recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage.

For the K tower area, experts have discovered and excavated an area of more than 400 square meters. During the process of peeling and moving the 60 - 80cm deep layer of soil, it was discovered that the K tower has two doors in the East - West directions and two low parallel walls, extending towards the E, F areas... This is an ancient road leading straight to the center of the My Son Sanctuary with a width of 8 meters, on both sides are two parallel walls that are delicately carved and buried in the ground at a depth of 1 meter.

According to historical documents, only kings, royal family members, and noble dignitaries of ancient Champa were allowed to enter this road. The wall system on both sides of the road was carved delicately and skillfully. This important discovery has contributed to increasing the long-standing historical values that the My Son sanctuary heritage brings.

The most interesting thing when coming to My Son is when the sunlight fades on the ancient towers, visitors can see the mysterious beauty of this relic.

Under the red afternoon light, the ancient towers become shimmering and magical with the dances of the Apsara dancers captivating people. Visitors seem to be lost in the ancient land of Champa with the image of girls with long slender fingers, full breasts and seductive curves in sparkling, brilliant costumes combined with the passionate sounds of Paranung drums and Saranai flutes.
