On the afternoon of December 1, the Ministry of Education and Training and the feasibility study team of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and UNICEF had a working session on the project "Promoting smart, inclusive and resilient education in Vietnam".

This is a transformative education project that aims to enhance foundational learning capabilities and equip vulnerable children with future-ready skills, including digital skills, green skills and transferable skills.

The project aims to ensure that by 2030 all children – especially the most disadvantaged – benefit from a smart, gender-responsive, inclusive and resilient digital education system that equips them with the foundational digital, green and transferable skills they need to thrive in a dynamic digital economy and contribute positively to a sustainable and equitable society.

The project includes main components: Teaching and learning transformed through digital transformation to develop future-ready skills;

Safe, supportive, gender-responsive and inclusive learning environments are built to facilitate innovative, future-ready teaching and learning;

The learning ecosystem is transformed to foster inclusive, future-ready learning and development.

With nationwide coverage and activities spanning across many geographical areas in Vietnam, the project aims to indirectly benefit all children of preschool and primary education age and teachers through an effective education ecosystem, innovative and inclusive curriculum, improved teacher capacity, better learning environments and learning resources.

The project's expected target is that after 4 years, at least 90,000 teachers and 1.2 million children will directly benefit.

Strategically, the project will: Contribute to the innovation of the implementation of the Vietnamese General Education Program; support the implementation of the National Digital Transformation Program; contribute to the development of high-quality human resources in the future; strengthen development cooperation between Korea and Vietnam, including the participation of the private sector and non-governmental organizations.

Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Kim NaRee - Deputy Country Director of KOICA emphasized: Since 2022, Vietnam and Korea have upgraded the relationship between the two countries to a comprehensive strategic partnership. Since then, the fields of education, science and technology, and innovation have had the premise and foundation towards closer cooperation.

Up to now, Korea has mainly cooperated with Vietnam in higher education and vocational education; cooperation in general education still leaves many opportunities open. The project “Promoting smart, inclusive and resilient education in Vietnam” is an important premise, towards a new cooperation model in the field of education between Vietnam, KOICA, and UNICEF.

Ms. Kim NaRee hopes to receive support from the Ministry of Education and Training to most effectively implement the project in the coming time; at the same time, she shares lessons learned from cooperation projects that the Ministry of Education and Training has been effectively implementing.
