Continuing the journey to support Khanh Hoa in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, these days, Ho Chi Minh City still maintains forces focused on carrying out many meaningful and practical activities to help local people soon stabilize their lives after the floods.
Thousands of gifts given away
On the weekend, the yard of Vo Nguyen Giap High School (Dien Lac Commune) still smelled of mud after days of being submerged in floodwaters. On the walls, water stains were still visible. Tables and chairs were neatly arranged in a corner of the yard to dry in the sun, preparing for teachers and students to return to school.

Since early morning, teachers and students have gathered in the school yard, their eyes on the road leading to the gate waiting for relief shipments from Ho Chi Minh City. The heavy atmosphere after the flood was eased when the first relief vehicles slowly approached. Nearly 700 gifts including necessities and clothes were given to the school's staff, teachers and students.
Nguyen Hoang Dang, a student of class 10A1, emotionally shared: “Today, when I received the gifts from the uncles, I was truly happy and warm-hearted, feeling the love and care of everyone for us. I thank the uncles and aunts in the group. My friends and I will always cherish and remember this noble gesture.” Dang’s emotion is also the mood of many students, because after days of flood, the support gifts brought a feeling of warmth and great encouragement.

Up to now, the Provincial Military Command has received 2,051 tons of goods, mainly necessities, blankets, mosquito nets, clothes, children's items... from Ho Chi Minh City to support people in the province. In addition, individuals, units, and businesses in Ho Chi Minh City have contacted the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to support 81 tons of goods of all kinds. The Provincial Red Cross Society coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross Society and related units to receive 30 tons of goods. The Provincial Youth Union coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union to receive 341 tons of goods; presented nearly 8,120 gifts to students in the communes and wards: Tan Dinh, Ninh Hoa, Hoa Thang, Dien Dien, Tay Khanh Vinh, Nam Khanh Vinh, Bac Nha Trang, Dien Lac, Nam Nha Trang, Tay Nha Trang, Dien Khanh. In addition, gifts were given to 300 households facing difficulties in Suoi Dau commune, with a total value of 600 million VND.
Help people stabilize their lives soon
In addition to relief activities, Ho Chi Minh City forces also actively coordinated to repair and clean schools, helping people clean the environment. Ho Chi Minh City mobilized 16 excavators, garbage trucks, and 300 workers to collect garbage and mud. Mr. Nguyen Van Dat - a member of the Ho Chi Minh City support team shared: "The amount of mud after the flood was very thick, up to 50cm in some places, we had to use large excavators to level the mud to be able to move. There was a lot of garbage, blocking the roads. The workload was huge to help the roads and residential areas return to normal."

Every day, the forces start work at 7am and finish in the late afternoon; all efforts are aimed at cleaning the streets, bringing normal life back to the people soon. Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien (West Nha Trang ward) said: "Thanks to the timely support of the cleaning forces, environmental sanitation helps make travel more convenient. We are very grateful to the forces and the support team of Ho Chi Minh City. However, there is still a lot of garbage, we just hope that the team and the forces will continue to support the cleaning."
At the same time, the Ho Chi Minh City relief team is currently coordinating with local authorities to survey and repair 33 schools damaged by floods, helping students return to class safely soon.

The support activities of Ho Chi Minh City not only have material value, but also convey a message of sharing, affection and responsibility to the community, contributing to helping Khanh Hoa people overcome difficulties and gradually stabilize their lives after natural disasters.
Mr. NGUYEN VAN BINH - Deputy Commander of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Volunteer Force : In the relief work, the delegation's top priority is to support food, food and basic needs. Next, we conduct medical examinations, treatment, and medicine distribution to people, clean up the environment, and repair schools damaged by floods. The delegation coordinated 50 doctors and nurses to distribute free medicine and provide disease prevention advice to more than 3,000 people. From November 23 to 27, the delegation provided nearly 150,000 meals. The Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee has directed departments, branches and sectors to closely coordinate with Khanh Hoa agencies so that all requests for support are received and implemented promptly. In the coming time, relief activities will continue to be deployed, contributing to helping people stabilize their lives soon.
