The event was attended by former National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, leaders of ministries, departments, and localities, ambassadors and consuls general of foreign countries in Vietnam, along with a large number of local people and tourists.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized that in recent times, Lam Dong province and many other localities across the country have suffered heavy losses due to floods and heavy rains.
On behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son extended their deepest condolences to the families and people affected by the disaster; at the same time, they highly appreciated and commended the efforts, proactive spirit, and decisive involvement of the Party committees, government, mass organizations, armed forces, businesses, and people of Lam Dong province in responding to and overcoming the consequences of the natural disaster and restoring production and business.
The Deputy Prime Minister also expressed his sincere gratitude for the support and assistance of international friends to Vietnam in general and Lam Dong province in particular.
The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the cooperation of agencies, organizations, and businesses inside and outside Lam Dong province in organizing the meaningful International Tea Festival, with many rich and practical activities, linked to cultural activities aimed at honoring tea producers, processing and trading businesses of Lam Dong province and the tea industry nationwide.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam has a long history and culture of tea production and consumption. Currently, tea is one of the country's key agricultural products, a sector with a strong position in the world, ranking 5th in planted area and 7th in production globally, with products exported to more than 70 countries. Among them, Lam Dong is one of the leading localities in the country with great potential, possessing many good models and innovative approaches in developing the tea industry value chain.
Over the past period, the Government has provided decisive direction and implemented numerous policies to remove difficulties and obstacles, creating favorable conditions for people and businesses involved in tea production and trade to develop strongly, enhancing the position of Vietnamese tea in the world market, thereby achieving many positive results.
Nevertheless, the Vietnamese tea industry still faces many challenges such as the adverse impacts of climate change, weak production-consumption linkages along the value chain, exports mainly in the form of raw materials, limited promotion and marketing efforts, and a lack of strong brands.
To ensure the sustainable development of Vietnam's tea industry towards a green, clean, high-quality, and high-value direction, the Deputy Prime Minister requested ministries, sectors, and localities, including Lam Dong province, to continue promoting the restructuring of the tea industry; effectively implement the Project on the Development of Key Industrial Crops until 2030, including tea, aiming for large-scale production, value chain linkages, application of high technology, deep processing, product diversification, and meeting international standards; develop organic and circular production models, exploiting multiple values, linked with culture, tourism, and services; protect the environment and adapt to climate change; and focus on building and developing strong brands for Vietnam's tea industry.
The Deputy Prime Minister also expressed his hope that international partners would continue to expand investment and business cooperation, and apply high technology to help the tea industry of Lam Dong province and Vietnam in general develop production and expand markets.

With the spirit of "harmonious benefits, shared risks," the Government will always stand alongside and create favorable conditions for domestic and foreign investors and businesses in the tea industry to confidently invest, produce, and conduct business in Vietnam, the Deputy Prime Minister affirmed.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed confidence that, with the proactive, creative, innovative spirit and unwavering determination of localities, businesses, and every citizen in Lam Dong province and throughout the country, Vietnamese agricultural products in general and Vietnamese tea products in particular will affirm their high quality and reputation, build strong brands, and establish a firm position in regional and global markets, becoming a source of pride for the beautiful country of Vietnam in the new era.
According to Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Dinh Van Tuan, with the theme "A place connecting the finest teas of humanity," the 2025 International Tea Festival, the first of its kind in Vietnam, will take place from December 5th to 7th in Da Lat, Bao Loc, and some typical tea-growing regions of the province.
Throughout the festival, a series of diverse activities will take place, including an international tea exhibition, a high-level conference on sustainable tea industry development, a tea music festival, a diplomatic tea program, a street festival, and a vibrant tea culture space.
In particular, delegates and visitors will witness impressive records: a mass tea-making performance by 1,111 tea ladies, a display of 1,000 ancient tea trees over 100 years old from many countries, and the participation of more than 80 Miss Cosmo beauties from countries famous for tea.
The festival is not only an opportunity for the province and tea production and trading businesses to introduce their unique tea products and culture to friends and tourists from both inside and outside the country, but also a true bridge to strengthen international cooperation with the presence of more than 50 ambassadors and consuls general and more than 80 beauty ambassadors from over 80 countries.
This festival also serves as an opportunity to connect tea producers, distributors, and consumers, opening up business cooperation opportunities and promoting the global supply chain. It's a journey of discovery for visitors to lush green tea-growing regions and to experience tea culture with long-time tea artisans.
