Nguyen Van Minh's courageous actions not only helped the authorities promptly evacuate flood victims to safety, but also demonstrated a sense of responsibility and selflessness for the community. He is a prime example of a good person doing good deeds for youth union members and young people inside and outside the province to learn from and emulate.

On December 5th, Comrade Luong Minh Tung, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dak Lak province and Secretary of the Dak Lak Provincial Youth Union, visited, encouraged, and presented a Certificate of Commendation from the Executive Committee of the Dak Lak Provincial Youth Union to Mr. Nguyen Van Minh, born in 1997, a member of the Phu An neighborhood Youth Union branch, Tuy Hoa ward, Dak Lak province, for his courageous act of saving people during the floods in November 2025.

Mr. Nguyen Van Minh recounted using a canoe to navigate the fast-flowing water, reaching households one by one to evacuate more than 500 people in Phu An neighborhood and neighboring communes, from young children and women to the elderly and infirm, to higher ground to escape the floodwaters.

Earlier, prolonged heavy rain caused rapid flooding in the eastern communes and wards of Dak Lak province, surrounding many households and forcing them to climb onto their rooftops to call for help. Among them were many households in Phu An neighborhood, Tuy Hoa ward, which were also deeply submerged.

Faced with this situation, Mr. Nguyen Van Minh, without thinking about his family's possessions, used his canoe to brave the raging current, navigating through the water to reach households and successively evacuate more than 500 people in Phu An neighborhood and neighboring communes, from young children and women to the elderly and infirm, to higher ground to escape the floodwaters.

Mr. Luong Minh Tung visited and commended Mr. Nguyen Van Minh for his courageous act of rescuing people during the floods.

Holding the Certificate of Commendation from the Dak Lak Provincial Youth Union Executive Committee in his hand, Mr. Nguyen Van Minh shared: “At that time, the water rose too quickly, too many people were trapped in the flood, plus the cries for help on social media, I didn't think twice, I used my canoe to try to get as many people to safety as possible. For three consecutive days, I was immersed in the rain and floodwaters, and I even caught a cold, but because so many people were trapped, I continued to use my canoe to rescue people and transport goods to people in neighboring areas, including Hoa Thinh commune. For me, at that time, all I knew was to save lives.”

Nguyen Van Minh's sense of responsibility and selflessness for the community is a prime example of good deeds and good people for youth union members and young people inside and outside the province to learn from and emulate.
