The brave action of Mr. Nguyen Van Minh not only supported the authorities in promptly bringing people in the flooded area to safety, but he also had a sense of responsibility and self-sacrifice for the community, and was a typical example of a good person and good deeds for union members and youth in and outside the province to learn and practice.
On December 5, comrade Luong Minh Tung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Secretary of the Dak Lak Provincial Youth Union visited, encouraged and awarded a Certificate of Merit from the Executive Committee of the Dak Lak Provincial Youth Union to Nguyen Van Minh, born in 1997, a member of the Phu An Quarter Youth Union, Tuy Hoa Ward, Dak Lak Province, for his brave action in saving people during the flood in November 2025.

Previously, heavy rains continued for a long time, causing floods in the eastern communes and wards of Dak Lak province to rise very quickly. Many households were surrounded by water and forced to climb onto their roofs to call for help. Many households in Phu An quarter, Tuy Hoa ward were also deeply flooded.
Faced with that situation, Mr. Nguyen Van Minh did not have time to think about his family's property, so he used his canoe to cross the rushing water, sneaked to the households, and took more than 500 people in Phu An neighborhood and neighboring communes, from children, women to the elderly, to high places to escape the floodwaters.

Holding the Certificate of Merit from the Dak Lak Provincial Youth Union Executive Committee, Nguyen Van Minh shared: “At that time, the water rose too quickly, there were too many people stuck in the flood, plus the cries for help on social networks, I didn’t think about anything, I used my canoe to try to bring as many people to safety as possible. During three consecutive days of being soaked in the rain and floods, I myself caught a cold, but because many people were stuck in the flood, I continued to use my canoe to rescue people and transport goods to people in neighboring areas, including Hoa Thinh commune. For me, at that time, I only knew how to save people.”

Through the story, Mr. Luong Minh Tung, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, Secretary of the Dak Lak Provincial Youth Union acknowledged and praised the spirit of self-sacrifice to save people of Mr. Nguyen Van Minh, and emphasized: Mr. Nguyen Van Minh's brave action not only supported the functional forces to promptly bring people in the flooded area to safety, but he also had a sense of responsibility, self-sacrifice for the community, and was a typical example of a good person and good deeds for union members and youths in and outside the province to learn and practice.

On the same day, Mr. Luong Minh Tung visited and encouraged the youth volunteer team of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education who were participating in repairing electricity and household appliances for free for people affected by recent floods in Dong Xuan commune.
